This invention relates to new and useful related with each other and with the brushing units within the container as to cause the complete washing of the dishes that are arranged within the container or first passed through the movable brushes before entering the container. I

f Now having particular reference to the drawings my novel dish washing machine consists of a substantially semi-circular metallic container 5 within which is disposed a substantially semi-circular brush head 6 the bristles 7 of which upon the inner face thereof terminate within one edge of the backing or head as clearly disclosed in Figures 4 and 6. Arranged within'the side of the container 5 directly above that portion of the brush head 6 that is free of the bristles 7 and resting at its lower edge upon that portion of the backing is a half-moon shaped brush 8 that is secured to the adjacent side wall of the container 5 by screws or the like 9. Obviously, this particular brush 8 will serve as a means for maintaining the brush 6 in rigid position within the container.

The ends of the brush shafts 15 within the ring gear 11 are equipped withgears 19 that have mesh with the internal teeth; of

the ring 11 so as the shaft 12 is rotated the brushes will be rcvolved'while' at 'the'fsame time the same will be rotated withintheir own axes'by reason of the gears 19 having mesh with the teeth of the ring gear 11'.

Secured to the wall ofv the container 5' within the center of the ring gear 11 and through which the shaft12 loosely passes is a gear 20 in mesh with which are smaller gears 21 upon the adjacent ends of the shafts 17 ofthe inner series of'brushes 18, with the obvious result that these brushes will also be rotated during the movement of the same through the container 5.

6 and 8 within the container 5 and the brushes 16 carried by the plate 14; are such that the bristles of said brushes 16 will have wiping engag'ement with the bristles 7 of thebrush head 6 while the forward ends of the brushes 16 as well as the brushes 18 will have engagement with the bristles of the brush 8 at the sidewall of the container. Obviously, when water is poured into the container 5 and the handle 13 rotated, dishes may be disposed within the container with the other band,

brushes, they will not only be cleaned on.

In Figure 7 there is disclosed a slightly modified form of one of the movable brush units. This brush unit is similar to the mov- V able brush unit in the other figures, with the exception that the shaft 15 is equipped with a coil spring insert 22 so that the brushes may flex when bulky Ware is being washed without bending the shaft or fiattening the brush bristles.

It will therefore be seen that I have provided a highly'novel, simple and extremely elficient dish Washing machine that is well adapted for all of the purposes heretofore designated and even though I have here in shown and described the invention as consisting of certain detailed structuralele- IIIQDtS, it is nevertheless to be understood that some changes may be made therein without afl'ecting the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

I claim I 1. In a dish washing machine of the character described, a semi-circular water con-- tainer open at its top side, a semi-circular brush arranged in the bottom wall of the container, a brush arranged at the inner surface of oneside wall of the container, a shaft mounted transverselythrough the opposite side Wall of the container and adapted tobe rotated, a circular member keyed to the inner end of the shaft within the container, concentric series of spaced brush shafts mounted for rotation through they circular member, brushes upon the inner ends of said shafts, and means for causing the rotation of the brushes during the movement of the same through the container all in a manner and for a purpose described.

2. In a dish washing machine of the character described, a container open at its top side and having a semi-circular bottom wall, a similarly shaped brush arranged Within the bottom wall of the container, the bristles of the brush terminating adjacent one edge of the brush head, a second brush arranged upon the inner face of one side wall of the container adjacent the unbristled end of the first mentioned brush head the lower edge of said second mentioned brush resting upon the first mentioned brush head and a series of brushes mounted for circular movement into and out of the container, and

means for causing the rotation of the brushes during such movement.

In a dish washing machine of the character described, a container open at its top side and having a semi-circular bottom wall, a similarly shaped brush arranged Within the bottom Wall of the container, the bristles of the brush terminating adjacent one edge of the brush head, a second brush arranged upon the inner face of one side wall of the container adjacent the unbristled end of the first mentioned brush head the lower edge of said second mentioned brush resting upon the first mentioned brush, a series of brushes mounted for circular movement into and out of the container, and means for causing the rotation of the brushes during such movement, said means consisting of a carrier, a plurality of brush shafts arranged CHARLES s. sAPP.
