This invention relates to door holders and relates particularly to devices for holding garage doors or other hinged closures in open or partially open position. I i

It is an object of the invention to provide a door holder compri j a brace member pivotally mounted at one endupon a door and inclining; downwardlyfrom the door in use, the other endfof said member being engageable with a surface above which.

the door swings, and to provide upon said door a supporting bracket for said brace member coacting with said member to hold the latter in an upwardly projecting stored position against the door, when desired.

Another object is to provide an improved construct-ion of a two-part bracket for supporting a pivotal door brace or other member.

These and various other objects the invention attainsby the construction hereinafter described and illustrated in the accoi'npany ins drawing, wherein:

In these views the designates a door and A and A designate two members forming a bracket mounted upon said door. The base of said bracket is formed by the member A and the member A has its midportion embracing the mid portion of the base A being thus held in unitary engagement with said base, the extremities of said member A? projecting as B mounting a brace bar C. Preferably the midportion of the base A is offset slightly from the end portions thereof so that the bracket member A in embracing said mid portion is restrained from' any movement.

In order that said bar may swing freely on the pin B, when engaged in the end of the slot D remote from the point C of the bar, it is desirable to form said slot as Fig. 1 clearly shows adjacent to that edge of the bar which is uncermost in the inclined position of use of the bar.

It is a feature of the described two-part bracket that the parts thereof are formed fromduplicatev stampings and that said parts are secured one to the other without fastenings other than the pivot pin B. These st-ampings may be produced from strap metal with no waste or from scrap material that would otherwise be wasted. The

two part construction furthermore lends itself to the establishment of a spaced relation between the members A such as will prohibit side play of the bar C between said ends. The two part construction further permits theuse of far simpler and less costly stamping diesthan would be necessary for production of a similar one-piecebracket.
