'lhe drain pipe 26 with the valve control 27 is provided in the bottom of the casing and at the lower portion of the incline 28. This drain is for the purpose of drawing off the fluid which will require clarification before being used again. Openings 29 and 30 are provided at opposite ends of the casing with the fluid tight closure plates 31 and 32, res actively, secured by bolts or other suita le means. Thus it will be seen that after the cream of the cleansing fluid has been drawn ofl through the pipe 24 and the bdttom portion of the trough has been drained through the pipe 26, it is possible to remove the closures 31 and 32 and to flush the bottom of the trough or remove the sediment by means of a scraper. It is also possible to remove the battle means in its entirety through theopening 30 and to replace the same after cleaning. Furthermore, the longitudinal baflle lates can be removed through the top of t e casing upon bringing the doors 5 and 6 in register with the door opening 4.
According to the modification in Fig. 7, the frame 35 is entirely open at one end, or in other words, is of U-shape rather than a closed rectangle. Transverse members 36 and 37 extend across the frame 35 and are secured thereto in the same manner as described in connection with the main form of my device. 'The longitudinal baffle plates 38 have their lower edges tapered or inclined as at 39, their reduced end portions extend-,
ing through the slots 40 rovided in the transverse members 36, whi e the notches 41 at their other ends lock over the other transverse members 37. It will be seen that the longitudinal batlie plates can be separately removed either through the top of the casing or through the opening 30; in the latter case it being merely necessary to lift up the notched end portion so as to clear the notch 41 of the transverse member 37, whereupon they can be withdrawn. Suiticient space is provided between the baflle means and the drum to permit the raising of the plates in the unlocking operation as just now described.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casing, said casing being provided with a trough beneath said cylinder, said trough being provided with a rest, means supported upon said rest for retarding agitation of the washing or cleanin fluid in said trough, means for drawing ofl the fluid to a level corresponding approximately with the top of said agitation 'retarding means, trough.
2. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casing, a battle means including removable bafile plates for retarding agitation of the washing or cleaning fluid outside of said cylinder, and means whereb either the said baflle means or the remova le plates alone can be removed from said casing.
3. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casin said casing being provided with a troug below said cylinder, and means including separably interlocked bafile plates for retarding agitation of the washing or cleaning fluid in said trough so as to permit deposit of foreign matter therein.
4. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casing, said casing being provided with a trough in its bottom, and means in said trough for retarding agitation of the washing or cleaning fluid, said casing being provided with an opening for removal of said means and with another opening in the wall of said trough at a lower level for removal of sediment.
5. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casing, and means for retarding agitation of the washing or cleaning fluid outside of said c linder,said cylinder being provided with a oading door and a clean-out door, and said casing being provided with a loading opening and an opening for removal of said agitation retarding means, said doors and openin bemg so arranged as to permit remova of said agitation retarding means either throu h casing loading opening or through said other casing openin 6. 7. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted c linder insaid casing, baflle means for retarding agitation of the washing or cleaning fluid outside of said cylinder, said baflie means including a frame, bafie plates, and means for removably locking said plates in said frame.
8. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a casing, a rotatably mounted cylinder in said casing, baflle means for retarding agitation of the washing or and means for draining said cleaning fluid outside of said cylinder, said baflle means including an open-end frame, baflle plates, and means for removably locking said plates in said frame upon apfplication thereto through the open end said frame, said baflle means being spaced from said cylinder so as to permit application and therein, and baflle means within the casing below the cylinder adapted to retard agitation of the cleansing fluid, said cylinder being provided with a loading door and a clean out door roviding access through the cylinder to sai battle means.
11. A machine of the character described,
comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, said casing being provided with a trough forming a chamber beneath the cylinder, baflle means in said chamber, and said cylinder being provided with a loading door and a clean out door permitting access through the cylinder to said chamber.
12. A machine of the character described, comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, and bafile means within the casing below the cylinder, said casing being provided in a side wall with an openingthrough which said baffle means may be horizontally removed, and said cylinder being provided with a loading door and a clean out door to permit access to the baflle means through the cylinder.
13. A machine of the character described, comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, said casing being provided with a dirt collecting recess below; the cylinder, baflle means therein arranged to retard agitation of the cleaning fluid, and two drain openings for said casing, one located at the level of the upper portion of said baflle means and the other at the bottom of said recess, the first opening being, adapted to drain the cleansing fluid without disturbing the fluid in said recess and the second opening being adapted to flush out the recess.
14. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a fluid receiving casing having a substantiallyvertical chamber, a work receiving cylinder rotatably mounted in said chamber, said casing being also provided with a trough beneath said cylinder with the space within said trough communicating with said chamber, and
means in said trough for retarding agitation of the treating fluid in said trough, said means being so positioned in said trough that it constitutes a continuation of the cylindrical wall of said casing.

A machine of the character described, comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, said casing being provided with a trough forming a chamber beneath the cylinder, baflle means in said chamber, and said cylinder being provided with a loading door and a clean out door permitting access through the cylinder to said chamber.

A machine of the character described, comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, and baflle means within the casing below the cylinder, said casing being provided in a side wall with an opening through which said baflle means may be horizontally removed, and said cylinder being provided with a loading door and a clean out door to permit access to the bafilc means through the cylinder.- V

A machine of the character described, comprising a casing, a rotatable cylinder therein, said casing being provided with a dirt collecting recess below; the cylinder, baflle means therein arranged to retard agitation of the cleaning fluid, and two drain openings for said casing, one located at the level of the upper portion of said baflie means and the other at the bottom of said recess, the first opening being adapted to drain the cleansing fluid without disturbing the fluid in said recess and the second opening being adapted to flush out the recess.
14. In a machine of the character described, the combination of a fluid receiving casing having a substantially.vertical chamber, a work receiving cylinder rotatably mounted in said chamber, said casing being also provided with a trough beneath said cylinder with the space within said trough communicating with said chamber, and means in said trough for retarding agitation of the treating fluid in 'said trough, said means being so positioned in said trough that it constitutes a continuation of the cylindrical wall of said casing.
