A vertical, cylindrical holder 10 is provided for-the broaches 8 and 9.' There are longitudinalislots 14: in opposite 'l05 sides'of the holder 10 to receive the bro'aches 8 and 9'. Each slot 14 also receives,in addition to one of the breaches, abutment blocks at the top and bottom, and an intermediate wedge bar 16. Each broach fits in be-' tween the abutment blocks '15 in the slot'14 in which said breach is located, and one of the wedge bars 16 fits into said slot between said blocks above and below and between the broach and one side of said slot, laterally.

When the upper dog is disposed in the aforesaid end of said dog forms a continuation or is in the same plane with the lower inclined edge of the cam plate 25., and when the lower dog 27 is likewise disposed the upper end of the same forms a continuation of or is inthe same plane with the upper inclined edge of the cam plate 26.

The combination, in mechanismof the class described, with a reciprocating member provided. with a rack bar having a pro- -jecti,on,'and cam plates in the path of said projection adj accnt to each end of the move mentimparted thereto bysaid reciprocating member, whereby said projection is moved-to reciprocate said bar, of a breach holder mounted on said reciprocating member, and provided with a pinion which inter- 9. The combination, in mechanism of the class described, with a reciprocating memtion only, and means to cause said actuating l ill ber, two plungers operatively connected by a lever, one of said plungers having a projection, and dogs in the path of said project-ion, whereby, when said projection encounters said dogs, said plungers are actu- V ated, of a broach holder rotatably mounted on said member, and provided with a notched collar adapted to be engaged by and released from the other of said plungers, and means to impart rotary motion to said holder each time said reciprocating member approaches either end of its'travel.

The combination, in mechanism of the class described, with a reciprocating member provided with a rack bar having a projection, and two cam plates in the path of said projection adjacent to each end of the movement imparted thereto by said reciprocating member, certain of said cam'plates being provided with'yielding dogs each of which permits said projection to move in one direction in a straight line, but diverting from said line said projection when moved in the opposite direction, whereby said projection ismoved to reciprocate said bar, of a broach holder mounted on said'reciprocatingv member, and provided with a pinion which inte'rmeshes with said rack bar.

The combination, in mechanism of the class described, with a reciprocating member provided with a rack bar having a projection, and two cam plates in the path of said projection adjacent to each end of the movement imparted thereto by said reciprocating member, certain of said cam plates being provided with yielding dogs each of which permits said projection to move in a straight line in one direction, but diverts from said line said projection when moved in the other direction, wherebysaid projection is moved to reciprocate said bar, of
a broach holder mounted on said reciprocating member, and provided with a pinion which intermeshes with said rack bar, and
with a ratchet and pawl to enablesaid rack o without affecting said holder.
