Machines designed especially for printing and delivering loosely woven or llght fabrics such as burlap or cotton often choke up because of the tendency of the material to wrinkle. This frequently requires the machine to be stopped and the printing mechanism to be backed up for removing the choke. Therefore, some means must be employed whereby the printing mechanism may be disconnected from' and reconnected to the delivery mechanism only when in their proper relation to each other.
The object of this-invention is to provide novel means whereby the machine may be stoppedat any point in its cycle and the printing mechanism disconnected from the delivery mechanism so that the printing mechanism can be moved to remove the choke, or for any other purpose, said means requiring the bringing back of the printing mechamsm into its proper relation to the delivery mechanism before the two mechanisms can .be reconnected. i
This invention more particularly includes a-structure in which a clutch is provided in the driving connection between two mech' anisms, which'clutch is operated by a lever for disconnecting and reconnecting the two mechanisms, a lever controlling member also being provided, which member is frictionally mounted on a cylinder shaft of. the printing and manually rotatable into position to permit the clutch operating lever to be manipulated to disconnect the two mech-.
anisms while they are still in their proper relation to each other and requiring the printing mechanism to again be brought back into its proper relation to the delivery mechanism before the clutch operating lever can be operated to reconnect the mechanisms.
A practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 represents a diagrammatic side view of the connected printing and delivery mechanisms.

The member 8 of the clutch which carries the gear 9 is loosely mounted on the shaft 6 and the member 7 o'fjthe clutch-is 'slid'ably keyed on said shaft. A hand wheel 26 is frictionally mounted I upon the form'cylinder shaft 25 so that'the hand wheel may be manually rotated, on said shaft. Thls hand. wheel is provided with a circular flange 27- which has an'opening 28 therethrough. The rod .245 of the clutch operating lever is provided with a stud 29 which IS located within the hand wheel flange 27 when the'clutch is closed and the printing and delivery mechanisms are operatively connectechso'that the lever cannot be operated until the hand wheel is rotatively adjusted to bring theopening28 in the circular flange 27 opposite the stud 29.

In operation: When a .choke contingency arises, the machine, is stopped. The hand wheel 26 is then turned on its cylinder shaft 25 until the opening 28 through the'c'ircular flange 27 isbrought opposite to or other the stud 29 on the rod 24. This'will per- M mit the clutch operating lever to be manipulated to Withdraw the stud 29 from Within the flange and to Withdraw the clutch memher 7 from its engagement With the clutch. member 8, thereby disconnecting the printing mechanism from the delivery mecha nism. The printing mechanism may then be moved to remove the-chokej or-for any other purpose. The printing mecha V nism is then returned to its original position in proper relation to the delivery mecha nism by bringing the opening 28 through the flange 27 of the hand heel 26 opposite the stud 29 on the rod 24: or the clutch operating lever. The clutch operating lever can then be movedto insert the stud 29 Within the circular flange 27 and bring the clutch 'member 7 into engagement Withthe clutch it into its proper relation to the delivery mechanism before it can be reconnected thereto.
'The throw-out means herein described is not only'usetul for'the ready elimination of chokes but is also useful for permitting the printing mechanism to be disconnected from the delivery mechanism While main ing-readyf and for mounting the plates, or for any other purpose.
While I have referred particularly to the application of this invention 'to machines for printing and delivering loosely-Woven or light fabrics it is to'be understood that this invention is WGllilClflPtQCl for use in mach'ineslforprinting and delivering in general.
It is evident that various changes may be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts Without departing' iromi the spirit and scope of my invention; hence, I do not intend to be limited' to the particular embodiment herein shown and described, but WhatIclaimis:- 1. A printing mechanism, a delivery mechanism, their driving connection, and means I manually movable to permit the disconnection and reconnection of said mechanisms only when in their proper relation to each;
