intercept lines of radio transmission and,
1 thereby increase the selectivity of the set without turning or manipulating said loop,
' thereby decreasing the number of manipulations required by an operator of a receiving 'set in selecting a station and leaving him free to concentrate his attention'on other adjustments.
A further object is to provide a new and improved receiving loop for radio receiving sets having a plurality of radially disposed semi-circular conductors detachably connected to a tube to facilitate assembly and manufacture of said loop.
A still further object is to provide a new and improved device of the character set forth composed of a few parts easily assembled and possessing a maximum efficiency. I
I accomplish these and other objectsby means of the device disclosed in the present application, wherein like characters of reference are used to designate similar parts throughout the said application and. drawings, and'in which, 7
Fig. 1 is a plan view, partly. broken, disclosing my improved receiving loop; V
Fig. 2 is aside elevation of Fig. 1',
Fig. 3 is an enlarged broken detailed view partly in section, disclosing the manner in 1 which the conductors are detachably 45. mounted;
Fig. 4 is a slightly enlarged plan view of.
one end of the tube with the conductors removed, disclosing the slots and Fig. 5 is a slightly enlarged broken view of one end of the tube, partly in section.
Referringto the drawings, thenumeral 1 is used to designate a vertically disposed] tube havin'g open upper and lower ends provided with preferably equally spaced at slots 2 and an'annularbeveled portion 3 within each end thereof extending r'uj'iternally or inwardly from the inner ends of the slots 2. ..The'1nternal portion of the tube 1 is provided with an internally threaded portrons at each end thereofand directly in-'- side of the slotted ends or portions ofsaid. tube 1, as disclosed in Figs. 3 and 5 of the drawings.
A collar 5 is end of the internally threaded ends of the tube 1 and is likewise provided with an annular beveled portion 6 arranged to match or contact with the adjacent annular beveled portion 3 of thetube 1.
A plurality of semi-circular conductors 7 threaded to screw into either entree earanrnrstes.
of suitable material, having their opposite ends projected through the slots 2 in opposite ends of the tube 1 and also slightly beyond the beveled portions 3 thereof, the projected lower ends of said conductors 7 being somewhat longer than the upper, ends in order that said lower ends may be twisted'or other wise united to form a single conductor 8 I leading to the receiving set, not shown.
In order to facilitate assembly and proper contact of the-conductors with the tube 1, without soldering,- the collars 5 are screw threaded into each end of the tube 1 until the beveled annular surfaces or portions 6 thereof engage the respective projected ends of the semi-circular conductors? and press 1 them tightly against the I annular beveled portions 3 of the tube 1 thereby assuring a proper contact and conductivity of the said' conductors 7.-
the opposite ends of the conductors? are projected are equally spaced the said conductors 7 will be radially disposed and present or from a loop having conductors for the in.- terception of radio transmission waves, ex-
tending in a multiplicity of directions thereby increasing the selectivity of the loop thus formed. v The tube may be suspended or supported in any suitable manner. 7 Y
' Having thus described my invention what gitudinally disposed slots cut into each end of saidtube andlikewise having. an annular beveled surface on the inside of said tube adjacent each end thereof and adjacent said slots; a plurality of semi-circular and radi ally disposed conductors having their oppo V As the slots 2 of the tube l'within which site ends mounted within said slots in the oppos'ite ends of said tube and projecting'into the interior of the same; and means for maintaining contact of the ends of said conductors With the beveled surfaces of said tube; y 1
2. A receiving loop for radio receiving sets comprising a tube have a plurality of longitudinally disposed slots in each end of said tube and also having an annular beveled surface on the inside of each tube and within the inner ends of the slots therein; a p1u-,
ra'lity of radially disposed semi-circular con- 'ductors having their opposite ends mounted Within said slots in opposite endsof, said tube and projecting into said tube; and an s annular collar screw-threaded into each end ofsaid tube and having a beveled surface arranged to engage the inwardly projecting V I PATRICK J.
