The present invention relates generally to the confectionery art and has more particularre'terence to a machine that is primarily adapted for use in the formation of: candy bars oi circular shape in cross section, the primary object of the invention residing in the provision oi certain improvements upon Letters Patent No. 1,570,2d7 issued to me on the 19th day or January 1926,
A very important object of lies in the provision of means whereby the machine may be adjusted in a quick and efficient manner for rolling difierent sizes of candy bars without the necessity of chaning any parts thereof.

V The machine per se, embodies the provision of a pair or side frame members 7 that are also relatively long and narrow and are formed with relatively large cut out poit-iens 8 for the purpose of lightness and cheapness. Each of these side frame memhers is formed adjacent its opposite ends with depending legs 9" and 10 of varying lengths, These legs are adaptedito be rigidly secured to the opposite side edges of the base 5, it being of course noted that due to the variationin the length of. the legs,

These belts are disposed in spaced relationship with each other. The shalt 18 carries a relatively large pulley wheel over whichis trained endlessbelt 24 that extends forwardly and is trained over another smaller pulley 24: upon the end of the armature shaft oi the motor 6, it being of course apparent that the relationship between the two: gears 22 members 7. Disposed intermediate the ends of said side frame member 7 is a pair of flanged guide rollers over whichsaid belts 11 and 12 pass, these rollers obviously act as guides for the belts and prevent the same from sagging in the center during the operation of the machine. I
It is preferable that the belts 11 and 12 at their lower discharge ends be more closely related thanis the case with said belts at their inlet ends for obviously compensating for the gradual decreasing of the cross sectional area of the candy movingin a downward direction, which movement is obviously occasioned by the reverse movement of adjacentfaces of the said belts as well as the faster speed of the uppermost belt 11.
Extending longitudinally between said belts 11 and 12, is a material guide designated generally by the reference numeral 26. This material guide'comprises'a pair of spaced parallel legs 27, the opposite ends of which are flared outwardly as is clearly shown inFig. 6. Certain ends of the legs of this guide member are joined together by a cross web 28, while the opposite outwardly flaring ends of said legs are formed with dove-tailed shape lugs 29. This material guide is positioned in a manneras is clearly shown in the sideelevational View,
Fig. 1, it being noted that the connecting web 28 between the legs 27 of this guide, serves as receiving trough for the balls of candy to be formed in the rolls by the action of the cooperating endless belts 11 and 12.
At the discharge end of the machine, there is positioned a r'eceivingtable 30 that extends slightly inwardly between the side member 7-'7. From the description as it has thus far progressed,it will be seen that the structure is practically identical in principal with that disclosed in my said patent. Particular attention is now directed to the improvements.
The side frames 7 are each formed from a pair ofsections, the upper section being 'denoted by the numeral 42 and each lower section by the numeral 48. These sections have at their ends outwardly projecting cars '44 pierced by bolts 45 havingsprings 46 thereon urging said ears apart. As is clearly indicated in Fig. 5, these bolts are reduced where they pierce the ears and are threadedly engaged as at 47 with the lowerears 44. By this adjustment, it will be seenthat the distance between the belts may be varied thereby regulating the size. of the roll of candy. Obviously when the sections 42 are moved away from or toward the section 43 of the side'frame member 7, the gears 19 and 22 are spaced different distances apart, and

Another improvement sion of a manually actuated follower clearly showntothe right of Figs. 2 and 6 and in Fig. 9. This follower includes a plate having an elongated longitudinal slot 61 for receiving a stud 62 comprising from the web 28. Ahandle 63 isprovided on the plate and an. abutting memberv 64jis pro vided at the end of the plate. A spring 65 engages the member 64 and the stud 62 normally holds the plate as is shown in Figs. 2 and 6. The plate is pushed inwardly as is shown in Fig. 9, thereby tensioning the spring to automatically return the same when released. When the follower is thus pushed in, the balls are fed in between the belts as will be apparent. 1 y, a V V A pair of spaced parallel guide ribs 66 are provided on the web 28 between which the plate 60 moves. A trough 67 is provided under the beltsand feeds into a suitable receptacle 68 so that none of the material will be wasted. i y p i From the foregoing description, when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, it will be atonce apparent to those skilled in the confectionery art, that I have provided a highly novel andsimplified form of themachine disclosed in my said patent. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is In a candy rolling machine of the character described, a pair ofside frame members, each side frame member including an and in the upper section, and a lower section, means for spacing the sections apart and allowing for ad'ustment therebetween, a pair of endless belts one between the upper sections and one between the lower sections, means for moving said endless belt so that their adjacent faces will move in opposite directions, said means including a pair of gears, one associated with each belt, an idler gear 10 therebetween and in mesh therewith, a stub shaft for said idler gear, a lever, said stub shaft being carried by said lever, and a pin and slot means for mounting said lever on one of the frame sections whereby the lever may be swung to shift the idler in proper mesh with the pair of gears when the space between the gears is varied by the adjusting of the sections.
