removed from the battery post without the use of any tools and by unexperienced persons, and which is proof against corrosion.
Other objects and advantages reside in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the upper portion of a storage battery with this improved cable terminal shown applied,

In the embodiment illustrated an ordinary storage battery B is shown having the usual terminal post P and to which the cable 0 is designed to be connected by the terminal which constitutes this invention. This terminal comprises a cap 2 of non-corrodible metal, preferably of lead, and has an electric insulating lining 3 of rubber. This lining 3 is shown in the form of a sleeve and has a flange 4 at its outer end shown housed in a recess in the lower ed e of the cap 2. This flange, however, may e omitted if desired.
Secured at one end to the outer face of the top of the cap 2 are a pluralityof conductor strips 5, three being here shown, which extend around the outer face of the cap across the lower edge thereof and up into the interior a ainst the inner face of the rubber lining seeve 3, and which terminate adjacent the inner end wall of the cap, as is shown clearly in Fig.2. These conductor strips being attached positively only at their ends at the extreme top of the cap avoid any short bends in the strips when sprung on or off the post and consequently they offer the least resistance to the spring action of the rubber lining 3 which is designed to yieldably hold the strips firmly in contact with the post P when the device is applied.
As shown, the conductor strips 5 are mounted in seats or grooves 6 formed in the outer faces of the side walls of the cap 2. The binding post P is shown tapered toward its free end and the interior of the cap is correspondingly shaped to insure a tight frictional fit of the terminal with the post when in operative position so that it may be readily pulled off or pushed on and yet will eiliiegzively grip and hold the post when app ie The wires W of the cable C may be either embedded in the metal cap 2 when moulded,
as shown in Fig. 2, and extend transversely non-corrodible material will not be affected by the fumes or acid of the battery and will require no tools whatever to either apply or remove it, all that is necessary being to insert the cap like member 2 over the post P of the battery and press it down firmly into contacting engagement therewith and the elasticity of the lining 3 will o erate to securely hold the conductor strips engaged with the post and thereby effectively retain the terminal and'the post against all possibility of accidental disengagement.

A terminal for electric cables comprising, a cap of non-corrodible material having means for the reception of the cable wires, a conductor electrically connected with said cap, and an expansible member arranged between said conductor and the inner wall of said cap whereby the conductor is firmly held in contact with the battery post when applied.
3. A terminal for electric cables comprising, a cap of non-corrodible material having means for the reception of the cable wires,
a conductor electrically connected with saidnected therewith, and an elastic sleeve arranged in the cap between the conductor and the side walls of the cap whereb the conductor is firmly held engaged wit the battery post when applied.
5. A terminal for electric cables comprising, a cap of non-corrodible metal having means to receive the wires of a cable, :1 laterally yieldable sleeve mounted in said cap, and a plurality of conductor strips attached at one end to the outer face of said cap and extended up into the cap adjacent the outer face of the lining sleeve whereby said strips are firmly held in contact with the terminal post of the battery when applied.
