SEEPAEABLE BADGE BUTTON.
Application filed December 2, 1925.-
This invention relates to a separable badge button. and more particularly to the means for securin' the badge or emblem member to the b. member of the button, and is especially designed for the purpose of supplyi g an individual with a plurality of different he. or emblem members which may be readily detached, removed and replaced in connection with said base member. i
The prime object of this invention is to provide simple, durable, economical and efficient separable badge button, especially designed for the nirpose of furnishing each individual with a complete set of different insignia badge or emblem members, all of said members being adapted to be fixedly secured to a single base member, so "that said individual shall be supplied with a badge member bearing the insignia of each fraternal association, club, or other organization of which he is a member, each of the badge members being adapted to be easily connected and disconnected from the same base member, thereby eliminating the expense of supplying a base member for each badge member.
Another object of the invention is to so construct our improved badge button that the badge member is supplied with a plurality of securing means for fixedly and removably securing said member to the base memher.
The foregoing and such other objects as may appear from the ensuing description, are accomplished by the construction, combination, arrangement and location of the several parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated by the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto, it being understood that slight changes in the precise proportions and minor details of construe tion may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification it will be seen that:
Figure 1 represents an enlarged side elevation'of the improved badge button embodying our invention.
2 is a sectional elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of each of the partsshowing them detached and separated from each other.
Serial no. 726 81.
Fig. t is an inverted plan view of the badge member.
Fig. 5 is a top plan of the badge member, and
Fig. 6 is a plan of a portion of the base member detached.
In the embodiment of our invention as illustrated, it will be seen that the numeral 2 designates the badge. member having a metallic disk 3 fixedly securedto its inner face, said disk being formed with an integral outward extension provided at each opposite side thereof with a slight beveled formation 4 and with an internally screw-threaded opening centrally thereof, while the outer surface of each member 2 is provided in any suitable manner with an ornamental insignia designating a particular club, society or fratcrnal organization of which the wearer of the button is a member. The base member is preferably composed of two parts, a head ed member 5 having a fixedly and centrally disposed externally screw-threaded stem 6, which is adapted to engage with the internal centrally disposed screw threads formed entirely through another member 7, said member 7 being formedwith an outwardly extended cylindrical portion 8, while its inner face is formed with a dovetailed recess 9, adapted to engage and receive the beveled formation 4 formed on the outward extension of the badge member 2.
It will be perceived that the three members constituting our improved badge button are-readily disconnected by simply unscrewing the threaded stem 6, and are quickly assembled by passing the said stem through the threaded portion of the part 7, and then sliding the beveled portion of the badge member within the dovetailed recess formed in said part 7, after which the stem 6 may be adjusted further inward ly to engage the central internal threaded portion'of the member 2, thereby fixedly and rigidly securing the several parts together in their proper position with relation to each other.
It will thus be seen that the badge or emblem member 2 may be doubly secured by slipping its beveled portion within the dovetailed recess formed in one of the parts. of the base member, and by the stem 6 of the base member fitted within the screwthreaded opening formed within said base member.
It will be understood that the button hereinbefore described may be readily attached to any desirable portion of a garment, preferably to the lapel of the coat by the owner thereof. i
This construction of badge or emblem button is intended to be sold in sets of one base membed or back, and four, six, or eight front or emblem members, placed in an attractive case; this eliminates the necessity of having to change the entire emblem button from the garment on which it is Worn, and is much more economical than several complete buttons, further, the owner has the advantage of owning several emblems at considerably less expense, and of being able to change them more rapidly, as will be readily understood.
Having thus described our invention What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A separable badge button, comprising a badge member having secured to its inner face a dovetailed extension provided with a central screw-threaded opening, a base member having a screw-threaded stem, and
ing an extended cylindrical portion and a dovetailed recess 1n its outer face said stein being adapted to pass through the inter mediate member and engage with the screwthreaded opening of said badge member and connect the parts together.
2. A separable badge button, comprising a badge member formed with a curved outer face and a dovetailed inner extension with a central screw-threaded opening in said extension, an intermediate member formed with a central screW-tln'eaded opening there through having a cylindrical extended portion and a dovetailed recess in its outer face adapted to engage said dovetailed extension, and a base member provided with a screwthreaded stem which is passed through the intermediate member and engages with the threadedopening in said badge member for connecting the parts together.
