COMBINED HOLDER AND DISPENSER FOR MATCHES.

Application filed August 26, 1926, Serial No. 131,766, and in Canada January 19, 1926.

This invention relates to improvements in combined holders and dispensers for matches, and the objects of the invention are to provide a .simply constructed and durable device of this description that can be hung up in any convenient position, which is adapted to hold a box of matches and to permit the matches to be readily extracted therefrom one at a time.

A further object is to provide a match box and dispenser of this description that can be manufactured at Very low cost and readily marketed.

With the foregoing and other objects in View, as hereinafter more fully referred to, the invention consists essentially of a casing adapted to hold matches and formed with a spring back and a curved base having a cut out portion and slot thereinand means carried by the spring back adapted to engage with the body of the casing to hold theboxsecurely in position.

As illustrated in the present example of my invention, this casing is formed of any suitable material,such as tin, and is curved at the bottom as indicated at 11. In the curved portion is a central V-shaped cut out portion 12 and at right angles thereto on one side a slot 13 slightly enlarged at the inner end, as at 14, to accommodate the head of a match. The front 15 of the casing is continuous, while the

16 and 17 are out out as at 18, permitting the back 19 to spring for the insertion of a box of matches.

For retaining the back securely in position when the box is inserted, Iprovide a clamp 20, here shown as formed of wire, suitably bent and pivotally carried at 21 in the turned edges of the back 19, the hook 22 serving as means by which the device may be hung in a convenient position.

I After a box of matches has been inserted in the casing 10 and the latter hung up by the hook 22 formed on the clamping member, the matches will automatically, by gravity, fall down into the curved bottom 11, some across the opening 12 and others partially protrude ing therefrom, but both readily accessible to anyone who wants a match. Vhen the matches in the curved bottom 11 arrange themselves crosswise therein, the slot 13 en'- ables them to be readily withdrawn without danger through friction.

As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claim, con- 7 structed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the present specification and accompanying drawings shall be interpreted in an illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

What I claim as my invention is: A combined match holder and dispenser comprising a casing formed with a curved hand.
