UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLOUGHBY STATE-AI SMITH, OF NEWTON POPPLEFORD, AND HENRY JOSEPH GAR- NETT, OF SEVEN OAKS, ENGLAND.
ALLOY SUITABLE FOR LOADING TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH CONDUCTORS.
Ho Drawing. Application filed April 29, 1926, Serial No. 105,564, and in Great Britain July 10, 1925.
This invention relates to new alloys which have a very high specific resistance and high initial magnetic permeability, and are consequently very suitable'in the form of wires, tapes or strips, for loading telephone and telegraph conductors.
According to this invention an alloy is' sistance of 99 microhms per cm".
What we claim is 1. An alloy suitable for loading telephone and telegraph conductors and having a nickel content of from'62 to 69%, an iron content of from 11 to 19%, a copper content of from 6 to 10% and a chromium content of from 5 to 9%.
2. An alloy suitable for loading telephone and telegraph conductorsand having a nickel content of from 62 to 69%, an iron. content of from 11 to 19%, a copper. content of from 6 to 10% and a chromium content of from 5 to 9%, together with an addition of about 0.5% manganese.
3. An alloy suitable for loading telephone and telegraph conductors and composed of nickel iron 18%, copper. 10%, chromium 7% and an addition of 0.5% of manganese.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our inventiom'we have signed our names this fifteenth day of April, 1926.
