I claim 1. In a machine of the character described, a keyboard, a plurality of series of rows of selectable abutments, and means for selecting in one series an abutment in each said rows in accordance with the depressing of the keys of the said lreyliioard, another series of rows of selectable abutmcnts being adapted to be selected in accordance with and b means of the selected abntments of the said first series of rows of abutmcnts.

In a machine according to claim I, the abutments of the said second series of rows of abutments being adapted to be moved in the direction of a said row. members adapted to be engaged and moved by means of the selected abutments of the said second series. and a series of movable type-bar magazines, each member arranged to move a magazine.
