7 In operation, the signal arm is extended to the hor zontal position tor signaling purposes and. "when so extended the arm sections will separate and the thumb will be moved to a projecting position. When, the
arm is swunginto the casing the arm sections'will overlap and the thumb will fold inwardly, asshown in Fig. 2. In this position the parts will occupy a minimum amount of space and will not be visible and the casing will be closed against weather by the plates 21 and 25.
From the foregoing description. it will be seen that the improved signal is of simple and novel construction, and is well. adapted for the purposes set forth.
What I claim as my invention is:
V 1. A vehicle signal, comprising a casing, a sectional'signal arm pivotally mounted at one end within the casing, and a foldable 7 element connected to the free end portion "of one of the arm sections.

A vehicle signal, comprising a casing, a sectional signal arm pi\'o1"all mounted at, one end within the casing, a loldahle element connected to the free end portion of one ol' the arm sections, and means for moving the signal arm from a vertical position within the casing to an extending horizontal position and vice versa.

A vehicle signal, comprising a casing, a signal arm pivotalb mounted at one end portion within the casing, said arm being termed of a pair of longitudinall3 overlapping sections foldable one upon the other, means for automaticall unfolding said sections with respect to each other when the arm is moved mitwardly of the casing, and a -toldable element hingedl attached to one of said arm sections and connected with the other of said sections whereby said clement will be unfolded with respect to the arm when the arm sections are unfolded with respect to each other.
5. A vehicle signal, comprising a casing having a side opening, a signal arm pivotallv mounted at one end portion within the -asing, means for moving the signal. arm from a vertical position within the casing through the side opening to a. horizontal position. said arm being formed ot a pair of longitudinally overlapping sections toldahle one upon the other, each section being formed at its free end with linger portions, means for automatically unfolding said sections with respect to each other when the arm is moved outwardly of the casing, a thumb men'ibcr hingoflly connected to one of the sections. a link connection between the thumb and the other section for unfolding the thumb with respectto the arm when the arm sections are unfolded with respect to each other, and a plate secured to an edge of the arm for covering saidv casing opening when the arm is within the casing.
