This invention hasfor. its object thepr ovision-of an-improved apparatus for dry'and steam heating; fandfalthough it isparticularly designed for use inthej dentallaboratory for the manufacture of vulcanlte dentunes, for sterilizing,-and other heating purposes, its adaptation for other, suchas househo'ld, purposes, will be readily: understood.
In carrying out my invention I provide a boiler, a heating chamber having a number of compartmnts, a water tank, means for controlling-the supply of water from the tank, and passages antbpipes forthe passage of steam round andthrough the respective compartments. Perforations 21 are provided in the roof of the boiler 5 so that communication is formed between the latter and the steam spaces 12.
The water tank 22 is placed above the heating chamber 9.

Pipes 27 lead from the bottom of therespective compartments to the atmosphere. Adrain pipe 28 leads from the bottom of the lower compartments 10 to the bottom of the boiler 5.
The tube 29, which leads from the top of the boiler 5,' has a diaphragmi 30 near the bottom thereof,- in' which is fitted a valve seat 31. The valve 32 is carried by a tube 33 attached at the bottom to .and opening into the float-34: and extending to and above the watenlevel in the tank 22. The tube 29 maybemade removable for inspection. A branch. pipe 35 fitted with cook 36, leads from the bottom of the tank 22 to the tube 29.
A float 37 in the water tank 22 is carried by the rod 38 articulated to the-lever 39 carried on'the shaft &0 supported in bearings on the boiler 5 or back of the heating chamher 9. A lever 41, which is also carried by V the shaft 40, is formed and arranged so that it can be caused to press on the rubber gas pipe 42 to the gas burner 43 to operate an electric switch or tap of an oil burner.
A tap 44 is provided on the boiler 5, and
to it"isfitted a flexible tube 45 having a nozzle 46 and shut-off lever 47.
A drain cock 48' is fitted on the Water tank 22;
A ball cook 49 fitted to the water service may be provided in the tank 22 and, if desired, a similar ball cock 50 fitted to the water service, may be provided in the boiler 5.
In constructing heaters according to my invention I may vary the constructional details as found desirable, so long as the essential features are retained.

As steam is generated in the boiler 5 it passes up between the walls, floors, and partitious ot? the chamber 9, through the steam spaces 12 and pipe Qlto the tank 22 where it coiulenses. This passage of steam around the various compartments, dry heats the interior thereof.
When it is desired to steam heat an article in any compartment '10 the desired cock 26 opened and steam allowed to pass from the steam space; .12 through the pipes into the compartment and then through the pipes L? to atmosphere. The water level in the boiler ii is regulated by the action of the float Sit and valve 32. The supply of gas or oil to the burners or the electric current to electric heaters is regulated by the float 37 in the tank 22 and not log on the shut-oll lever ell, which in the arse oi or oil supply, presses on and closes the flexible pipe; in the case of an electric heater it acts on a switch.
Hot water for scalding purposes is supplied through the tube t5, the supply being controlled by the spring lever 47, which normally closes the tube 4.3, but which latter may he opened by pressure on the lever l7, releasing the tube -15. Hot ater can also be taken from the tank 22 by the tap 48.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed I declare that what I claim is 1. In an apparatus of the character de scribed, a boiler, a heating chaniiher having a plurality of compartn'ients arranged above the boiler, the walls of said con'ipartn'lents being hollow to provide steam passages com municatingwith said boiler, valve controlled means for conducting steam from the steam passages to the interiorof the respective compartments, a water tank overlying the uppermost heating chamber, valve controlled. means for combating water from the tank to the boiler, and means permitting the escape of steam from the respective-compartments to the atniiosphere.
2. An apparatus as claimed in claim 11in eluding float operated means controlling the passa re of water from the tank to the boiler, means for controlling admission of water to the tank. a heater associated with the boiler, and float controlled means for controlling the heater.
