application med December 1s, 1925. serial No. 76,336.
This invention relates to improvementsr in arch supports 'and has for an object the pro-,-vv
vision of a device of this character which will support the arch of the foot and also.
provide a foot bandage. p
Another object of the invention -is theprovision of a device of the above character which includes removable pads, so thatthe support may be adjusted as desired7 means being provided for securing the support to the foot, which will also act to hold the pads in place.` I i' With the above and other objects` in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of 'construction, to be hereinafter more fully described,-
llustrated in the accompanying` drawings and pointed out in the appended claim. In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective View illustrating the invention applied. i
Figure 2 is a `fragmentaryplan viewof the pocket.
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the invention removed from Vthe foot.
Figure 4 is a View similar to `Figure 3 but showing the pocketarranged to receive Aor remove the pads with the latter illustrat edv removed from the pocket.
Referring to the drawings in detail Wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the improved (support comprises a pocket 10 which is shaped to fit b'e-k neath the arch of the foot Aand whichincludes'side walls 11V and 12, the latter being designed to be placed next to the foot. The walls 11 and 12 are securedtogether along their curved side edges 13, while their other edges 1li and 15 are unattached, the latter forming the opening or mouth of the pocket. The pocket l() is designed to removably receive one vor more substantially` wedgeshaped pads 16, which, when placed inthe pocket provide an arch support capable lof being regulated as desired. l Y
They wall 11 of the pocket is extended 1 beyond the edge 14 and secured to this extended portion is one end of an elastic'strap 17. The thickness of this strap is substantially the same as the thickness of the wall 12 so that a substantially-Hush surface is provided for contactwith the foot.
The opposite end of the strap 17 is se'V cured to aitab 18 which is formed by a re-v duced extension'offthe wall l1 and as the `wall 11 forms the lower wall of the pocket or support, the adjacent portion of the strap 17 will extend across the opening or mouth 15 and close the latter so as to hold the pads 16 inplace. The pads may be readilyremoved or inserted'by arranging the strap as shown in Figure 4; of the drawings.y
The invention is susceptible of .various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of thev appended claim. Y Y. A Y,
Having described the invention what is claimed is y An arch support embodying a pad designed to'be positioned beneath the foot and including a pocket havinga narrow inner endand a relatively vwide outer open edge,`
the opening` being co-extensive with the width of the pocket and the pockettaper-V ing towards its narrow end, atab formed integral with and extending from the lower edge of thepocket opening Vand located centrally of the mouth of said pocket and having its side edges terminating a relatively short distance from the'ends of the pocket
