TOILET Box.

My invention relates to a toilet or Vanity box and my objectis to provide one which is of a construction which shall be quite compact and have a desirably thin shape. Other advantages will appear from the fol lowing description: i I

I provide two halves, 1 and 2, each of which is of a general saucer shape, which may be pivoted together, as indicated at 3, so that their edges substantiallymeet like. the halves of a clam-shell, as indicated in Figs. 2 and 3. The boX contains one or more compacts, such as a face powder compact 4, and a rouge compact 5, held therein in a suitable way. It also contains one or more mirrors. In Fig. 2, I have shown two mirrors 6 and '7, which, if desired, may be cars ried upon a thinplate 8, suitablypivoted as on the common pivot3, and which, if desired, maybe of such a size that it lies be tween the meeting edges, as indicated in Fig. This plate may carry a suitable push-catch 9, which will engage the two halves, such as by engaging over the inturned edges thereof, as indicated at 1010. "When closed and latched, the device is quite compact.

One or both of these compacts, such as the one illustrated by 4, maybe moulded into a saucer-shaped metallic container 11, thereby providing a shape which closely fits the interiorly concave shape of the half 1 and may be held therein, if desired, by a flexible metallic portion 12, which may be snapped or sprung into the half portion by engagement under the inturned edge 10, as shown. Either half of the box may be opened with ease by pressing upon the catch 9 and with the thumb nail inserted in the slight angle formed at 17 Fig. 3 between the inturned edge of the half and the catch or plate 8.

Figs. 5 to 7 inclusive show a slight varia tion in which the mirror 13 is held by'a part 1 1, ina manner similarto that in which the compacts of the other figures are held.

By this construction, a quite compact box is provided, and whichis of neat, attractive appearance. 15 and 16 represent powder putts, which may be provided if deslred.

I am aware that various modifications of my invention may be made without departing from its scope.

What I claim as new is:

1. A "toilet box comprising two saucer-'- shaped covers and a partition hingedly connected together, and means for securing both of said cover members to the partition, said securing means comprising means projecting from opposite sides of said partition for engagement with the covers. 7

21A toilet box comprising two saucershaped members, a hinge for pivot-ally securing said members together, a partition hingedly mounted between said members and adapted when the members are closed to form two closed compartments, and means upon opposite sides of said partition and adapted for engagement with the saucer-shaped members whereby either of the saucer-shaped members may be secured to the partition to form a closed compartment when the other member is open.
