. A further object is to provide a package having the novel design, construction and' combination of parts hereinafter described the portions of the blank between the linea and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the letter A designates the blank as a whole, which is of rectangular shape and com sed of ber, paper board, sheet metal or t e like. Y
In order to form a acka e or box from the blank, two pairs o wea ening or score lines 2 and 3 and 4 and 5,`respectively, are formed longitudinally of the blank, each pair being spaced from the longitudinal center line. Two other pairs of weakening or score lines 6 and 7 and 8 and 9, respectively, are formed transversely ofthe blank, each pair bein spaced from the transverse center line of t e blank. The inner lines 2, 4, 6 and 8 of the pairs of.lines,deine the edges of the bottom 10 of the package, whlle partly -r2 and 3, and 4 and 5 form the side walls 12 7 blank between the lines 6 and 7, and 8 and 9 inorcing and binding flaps 18, while the of the package, and the portions of the vform the end walls 13 of the package.
The blank is slit or cut' through along the lines 7 and 9 inwardly from the outer edge to the inner lines 2 and 4, as at 14, and also along the lines 2 and 3', and 4 and 5 between the lmes 6 and 7, and 8 and 9, as at 15, so as to form end ila s 16 and 17. 4

In order to .1s-semble the blank to form a package it is only necessary to fold the blank on the weakened or. score lines, so as to enclose'the material. If it is desired to package tin plate, a stack of'tin plate will be assembled and laid on the bottom 10 of the wrapper, the side walls 12 are then folded or `bent upwardly into vertical position, and the top sections 19 and 20 are then folded or bent over the to of the plate. The end flaps 17 are then Ileent down along the ends of thelplate and the end aps 16 are'bentA inwardly o,ver the flaps 17. The end por tions of the'blank are then bent upwardly along the ends of the plate so as to overlie the flaps 16 and 17, thereby forming the body portion of the package. The flaps ,18 are bent downwardly so as to overlie the top sections 20 and the ends of the flaps 18 are then bent around the package forming an J(ca ncompassing, reinforcing and binding porion.
The flaps 18'may be either glued in position to hold the package in assembled portion, orthey may be held in position b metal straps or bands 22 having their en s spot-welded together, as shown in the'drawings at 22a. It will be understood, of course, that if desired, the fiaps 18 may be Iglued and the straps 22 also added.
A plurality of holes 23 are preferably formed, in the side walls 12 to permit the escape of air from the package when the loaded packages are compressed by iling or handling, so as to prevent the air reaking the package.
It will be readily appreciated by those skilled in the art, that I have provided a package or box having great strength, and
