BUILDING CONSTRUCTION.
Application filed September 22,1926. Serial No. 137,096.
My invention relatesto improvements in building constructions, and it consists in the combinations, constructions, and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide. an improvement over my co-pendmg appli-.
Other objects and advantages will appearin the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be-particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
' My invention is illustrated in the accom panying drawings, forming part ofthis application, in which Figure 1 is a sectional View of a floor showing my device applied thereto,
Figure 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of the device as applied to form, and
Figure 3 is a side elevation of the device.
In carrying out my invention, 1 make use of a shoring 1 now employed in general building construction. This shoring extends from the floor below and carries solid forms 2. Hangers 3 are disposed upon the forms 2.
The hanger 3 forms my invention, while the shoring 1 and the forms 2 form no part of my invention, except in sofar as'they eooperate with my invention. The hanger 3 is formed of a suitable sheet metal in which a row of relatively large openings 4: are punched substantially adjacent one longitudinal edge thereof, and a row of relatively small openings 5 are punched substantially adjacent the other longitudinal edge thereof. The hanger 3 is angular in cross section.
From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof. may be readily understood. The shoring 1 and the solid forms 2 are first disposed in place when forming the floor. Support pans 6 are then disposed upon the forms. These pans are U-shaped, as shown in Figure 1, and the legs of the pans rest upon the upper surfaces of the forms 2, the legs of one Set of pans being spaced from the legs of the adjacent set for permitting concrete to fall down between the pans and rest upon the forms 2. The hanger is then disposedupon the solid form 2 and secured in place by hooked nails 7 and staples 8. T 1e hooked nails 7 extend over the up wardly extending portion .ofthe hanger 3 and .the staples '8 are secured to the form 2, one leg of each of the staples extending through one of the openings 5.
The concrete is now poured and embeds the hanger 3, filling the openings 4. When the concrete is dry and ready for the forms to be removed, the shoring 1 is removed. The form 2 is then forced downwardly, and during this downward movement, the staples 8 pull the lower portion of the hanger 3 free from the concrete into a position in alignmentwith the upwardly extending portion of the hanger. The form- 2 and the staples 8 may then be removed from the hanger. If the staples 8 are not sufiiciently embedded in the-form 2 to bend the lower portion of the hanger 3 into alignment with the upper portion thereof, the form 2 and the staples 8 may be removed and the lower portion of the hanger moved into place by any suitable means. Metal lath 9 may then be secured to the hanger 3 by wires 10 which pass through the openings 5.
I claim:
1. A device of the type described comprising a form for supporting concrete flooring whilesaid flooring is hardening, a hanger having a vertically extending member and a horizontally extending member disposed upon said form, said vertically extending member having relatively large openings therein, said horizontally extending member having relatively small openings therein, and means for securing said hanger to said form.
2. A device of the type described comprising a form for supporting concrete flooring while said flooring is hardening, a hanger having a v rtieally extending member and a horizontally extending member disposed upon said form, said vertically extending member having relatively large openings therein, said horizontally extending member having relatively small openings therein, and means communicating with said horizontally extending member adjacent said relatively small openings forsecuring said hanger to said form.
A device of the type described comprising a form for supporting concrete flooring while said flooring is hardening, a hanger having a vertically extending memberand therein, said horizontally extending member having relatively small openings therein,-and means for securing said hanger to said form, said securing means causing said liorizontally extending member to move With said form into alignment With said vertically extending member when said form is removed.
4. A device of the type described comprising a 'form for supporting concrete flooring While said flooring is hardening, a hanger having a vertically extending member and a horizontally extending member disposed upon said form, said vertically extending mei'nber having relatively large openings therein, said horizontally extending memher having relatively small openings there in, means disposed in engagement With said vertically extending member for securing said hanger to said form, and auxiliary means communicating with said horizontally extending member adjacent said relatively small openings for securin said hanger to said form, said auxiliary securing means causing said horizontally extending member to move With said form into aligni'nent with said vertically extending member When said form is removed.
