LUDWIG BRANDEIS, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN RANGE BOILER-STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,420, dated June 15, 1875; application filed March To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LUDWIG BRANDEIS, of Brooklyn, county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Kitchen or Range Boiler-Stands, of which the following is a specification:
The nature and the object of my invention relate to the lengthening or shortening of the column, stem, or pillar of the boiler-stand, for the purpose of adjusting it to the height required without cutting the iron or reducing its strength.
The drawings will explain the nature of the improvement.
A is the top or carrier or ring of the stand, which may be straight or plain or grooved in the rim 1. B is a hollow pillar or stem, hollow for the purpose of running a rod, provided with nut and washer on both ends, or threaded bolt, through, to hold the parts in their proper position; 0, the foot or base of the stand; D, the stem, column, or pillar, composed, in part or entirely, of movable rings, washers, sections, segments, pieces, divisions, or parts, of any metal, or combination or alloys of metals.
What I consider as my invention is the construction of the stem, pillar, or column of segments, sections, rings, washers, either resting on each other, or one fitting into the lower part and the top, and into each other, for the purpose of lowering the stand by the removal of one or several pieces without cutting the metal, simply by removing nut and washer at the top, sliding the section or sections out, and screwing up again, either by adding the washer on the top below the nut, or by leaving it off completely.
WVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an improvement in range boiler-stands, the leg, standard, or support, formed of hollow or perforated washers or sections, combined with a screw-threaded bolt, substantially as described and shown.
LUDWIG BRANDEIS.
