The invention relates to improvements in fuel delivering devices of the ty e shown 1n Patent No. 1,410,687, granted to .M. Lower March 28th, 1922. The 'objects of the invention are to provide for the easy replacement of a portion of the fuel A4discharging tube which is subjected to excessive wear, and to simplify the construction by forming the steam nipple employed in connection with the tube as an integral part thereof.
It has been found in practice that the bottom of a tube of the type in question is sometimes rapidly worn away 1mmediately forward of the steam nipple, by the ycutting action of the steam and the abrasive action of the material impelled by it; and the invention consists in a tube havin this sect-ion of its bottom removable, the el ow to which the tube is attached, being provided with` -a suitable hand-hole through which this removable section may be passed, and it consists further in a tube vhaving a steam nipple which is integral with its bottom.

The distributor tube 10 1s attached to the elbow 12 of the elevator conduit 11 by means of a hook bolt 13 en aged with a pair of lugs 14 (only one of w ich is shown) on the elbow, in the usual manner. The bottom 15 of the tube is shown as being removable.
A feature of our` invention consists 1n formin Y the steam nipple 16, provided with erts, 1 from which issue the fuel-injecting blasts, as an integral part of the tube, in this instance being cast with the removable bot'- tom 15. Steam may be led tothe nipple 16 in the usual manner, a steam pipe being connected laterally, as indicated at 18 in Figs. 2 and 3, and shown at 20.
A removable plate 21 is fitted into a suitable aperture in the rearward end of the tube bottom, its rearward end resting' on a lug 22 and its forward end on a pair of lugs 1922. Serial No. 570,612.
23. A recess 24 at the forward margin of the lower face of the plate 21 registers with a recess 25, formed in the upper face of the bottom 15, these two recesses serving for the admission of a suitable tool, preferably in hook form, for raising the plate 2 1 from its seat for the purpose of removal.

as vshown at 26, to permit the insertion and removal of the plate 21, this a closed by a cover plate 27, elbow, as indicated at 28, 28.
In service a portion of the steam blast impinges upon the rear end of the bottom of the tube, carrying with it some of the material being thrown into the furnace and causing excessive wear. By forming this portion of the bottom of the tube as a removable plate, as shown, replacement rendered necessary by the cutting and abrasive action can be easily and cheaply made, it being unnecessary to remove and replace either the entire tube or the entire bottom when the latter is made removable.
