FELIX LEWIS, OF ST. 'PETERSIBURG, FLORIDA.
HAIR-BOBBING DEVICE.
Application filed September 20, 1926. Serial No. 136,575.
The present invention relates to ahair bobbing device that aids to provide a gauge structure which may be conveniently and easily placed on the head of a person having their hair bobbed so that the bob may be cut in an accurate and attractive manner.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which is thoroughly adaptable so as to fit the different size heads.
A still further very important object of the invention lies in the provision of a device of this nature having an exceedingly simple construction, one which may be manufactured at a. low cost and yet prove thoroughly reliable and efiicientin use and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
WVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is another perspective thereof showing the same on the head of the head of a person.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the letter B denotes generally a resilient band which is formed in six parts.
The sections 5 are attached to curve sections 6 by screws 7 or any other suitable manner. The curved back section 8 is provided with elongated slots 9 at its ends for receiving stud bolts 10 from sections 6 on which are threaded nuts 11. The extremities of the back section 8 have inturned flanges as indicated at 12, but slidably receiving the sections 6. section 14 is provided with stud bolts 15 which project through the slots 9 and receive nuts 16. The sections 5, 6 and let are provided with teeth 17 projecting 1nwardly thereof. Nuts 18 are provided on the sections 5 and a button 19 is provided centrally of the section 8. A harness includes 0 strap 20 adjust-ably connected to a strap 21 by suitable snap fasteners 22. The extremities of the strap 20 are adjustably connected by suitable snap fasteners 23 with strap sectlons 24 which are provided with openings 25 for engaging over buttons 18. l
The lower extremity of the strap 21 is provided with an opening or a plurality of openings for engaging'over the button 19.
From the above description it will be seen that the band B may be adjusted to different sizes to fit about the head of the wearer such as illustrated in Figure 2 and the har ness may also be adjusted for fitting properly the head of the wearer. The teeth 17 have sloping sides on their bottom. The purpose is that when the device is pulled down over the head from the top the outside hair will be drawn taut while the hair next to the scalp will still be natural or loose. The scissors will be used to cut the hair with the slope of the teethclose up against the bottom of the teeth. Then when the device is removed the outside hairs will be the proper length as those next to the scalp. It will be seen that any person can use the scissors and cut the hair perfectly with this improved device. The structure of the clevice is simple yet very reliable and etlicient. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as dc sirable in the statement of the above description. It is apparent that changes indetails of construction, in the combination and ar rangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed and without sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is 1. A hair bobbing device comprising a pair of side bands divided into sections, a
back section adjustably connected to the side sections, a harness associated with the bands, and a plurality of teeth projecting inwardly from the band.
2. A hair bobbing device comprising a pair of side bands divided into sections, said side bands provided with stud bolts at their inner ends, a back section provided with a pair of slots to slidably receive the stud bolts of the side bands, a harness associated With the sections, and a plurality of teeth projecting inwardly from the band and having their bottom portions inclined.
3. A hair bobbing device comprising; a pair of side bands divided into sections, said side bands provided with stud bolts at their inner ends, a back section provided with a pair of slots bearing toward each end thereessee-4 of to slidably receive the stud bolts of the 10 side band, a plurality of teeth projecting inwardly of the same, an inner section slidably mounted to the back section'and provided with a plurality of inwardly projecting teeth, and a harness associated With the band.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
FELIX LEWIS.
