This invention relates to skeleton formson.Y
bodiment illustrated, but rather to define such limits in the appended claims.v f
For a more detailed understanding of the invention, attention is lnow called ,to the drawings 'in whichl Figure lis a top plan view of the form.
Fig.`2 is a side'view thereof. l Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 1. V Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the hinge piece.
Fig. is a fragmentary top view of a modication of the device.
Fig; 6 is a side view thereof. Fig. 7 is a section on line 7-7 o f Fig. 5.
which like reference characters denote like parts throughout the specification, numeral- 1' represents the base or foundation of the form and 2 a cup, when covered with fur, forms the head of the animal. This cup is preferably made from rubber, in order to Ymake the head resilient and soft tothe feel Y of the hand and to sprin back to its normal vposition in. the event of eing attened.-
For holding the cup in place, a staple 3' is provided. The base of the staple-1s attached tothe base 1 of the form, and -the upright ends 4 are formed into hooks 5, which are embedded in the cup 2 andthereby hold v it in place.
A.As noted in Fig. 1, the front end 6 of the base is somewhat pointed. This portion when' suitably covered, simulates the snout oftheanimal. Y"
-For reinforcing the base, a lon itudinal rib 7 and across rib 8 is provid These A ribs are referably made of cork to give a pro r egree. of softness to the finished pr uct. c
' In F' 5 is shown a modification o f the device owing the-rib 9 made out of sheet intended to limit the invention to the em- Referring to the drawings in detail in rib 9.
It will `thus be seen that I have provided metal, the -rib 10 as inthe preferred form made from cork. As' 'noticed in Figs. 6 and ,7, another strengthening ribll'is rovided underneath the base 1, and is paral el to the a skeleton form which is simple in construc-l tion and relatively cheap to manufacture, and when covered with a suitable vmaterial the device will'simulate the head of an animal.l \.The rubber cup which forms the head of the animal will be soft to the touch and spring back to its normal position in the event of being flattened down. 'Y Having thus described my invention, what I desire tosecureby United States Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, a base,
a projection of said base on which' to form the snout of thel animal, a resilient cup having a flattened portion at thefront which forms the head of the animal, and means for .attaching the said cup to the base of the structure, the said means consisting of a cross rib attached to said base adjacent the inside of the front wall of vsaid cup, a staple attached to said base and having upright ,members provided with hooks embedded in said cup, the front of said cup being supported between the said cross member and the uprights of said staples.
2.In a device of. the class described, in
onwhich to form the snout of the animal, a rubber lhemispherical cup having a flattened portion at the front which forms vthe head of the animal, the front end of said cup supported by staples having a pair of prongs which are embedded in said cup and a cross member attached to said base and bearing -againstlthe inner front face of saidcup. f 3. In a device of the class described, in combination, a base, a projection of said base on which to form the snout of the animal, a rubber hemispherical cup having'v a flattened portion at the front" which forms the head ofthe animal, means for fastening the front portion of said cup to the base, the
combination, a base, a projection of said base rear portion being free, the said fastening means consisting of a staple having'a baseattached to the first-mentioned base, and
arms projectin upward Afrom said base hav- `ing hooks at te ends for holding said cup in place, and a cross member attached to said base Afor holding .the front -portion of the cup between said staple and cross member.
4. In a device of the class described, in combination, a base, a projection of said base on which to form the snout of the animal, a rubber hemispherical cup which forms the head of the animal, means for fastening the front portion of Said cup to .l the base, the rear portion being free, the
said fastening means consisting of a staple 10 'having a base attached to the first-mentioned base, and arms projecting upward from' said base having hooks at the ends for holding said cup in place, a rib attached to the front l part of said base forming the upper portion of the snout of the animal and another rib at right angles to the first-mentioned rib and bearing against lthe inside of the front portion of the cup, the said cup supported lhetween said uprights of the staple and last mentioned rib.
In testimony whereof I aiix my signature.
JACOB PEITZER.
