rlhe invention consists in certain novel combinations and arrangements of parts as will hereinafter be more fully set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying dia-wings I have illnstrated one complete example of the physifal embodiment of my invention wherein the parts are combined and arranged in accord with the best mode I have thus far devised for the practical application of the principles of my invention.

In order that the general arrangement of and relation of parts may readily be understood I have indicated the cross ties as T and the track ails as R and B.
The car replacer comprises a pair of complementary frog-blocks designated as a whole by the numerals l and 2 which are fashioned in suitable manner as from wrought metal, preferably hollow, and designed for use at the `inner and outer sides of the complementary track rails. In Figure l the frog blocks are arranged in position to replace a car moving to the right, but it will be understood that the blocks may be turned end for end with the block l at the outer side of the rail and the block 2 at the inner side of the rail left of Figurel. The outer block l is used at the outside of the rail while the frog block 2 is used at the inner side of the opposite rail.
The outer frog bloclr'l is fashioned with an uljiwardly' curved convex face 3 and an outer curved edge -l `which rises at its maximum height above the top of the tread of the rail R. The curved face 3 of the frog block merges into a downwardly and inwardly declining face 5 in Order that when the flanged wheel ot" the car rides up over the face 3 with the tread of the wheel over the arcuate edge ll, the wheel will be shifted to the left in Figure l and the wheel flange will slide laterally over the inclined face 5, to the tread of the track rail. As thefcar truck is being guided by the other frog block, the flange of the wheel rolls over the tread of the rail R until the wheel is in position and replaced on the rail R.
'.lhe inner or guide frog block 2 also has a curved, convex front face as 6 over which the wheel flange rides to position between two guide flanges 7 and 8 of the frog block 2. Like the arcuate edge t of frog block l `these flanges 7 and 8 extend diagonally with relation to the longitudinal axis of the' blocks and of the track rails, and between the flanges 7 and 8 a groove 9 is formed for the flange of the wheel to roll through.
As seen in Figure l the short guide flange T terminates flush with the top of the tread of the rail R and its inner wall or face merges flush with the inner face 0f the rail head. Thus as the flanged wheel rolls up the groove 9 the flange is guided to shift the wheel laterally .so that its tread will roll on the tread of the rail R and when this po-` sition is reached the flange of the wheel guides the wheel and truck to proper position lon the two rails.
For strengthening and bracing the frog blocks they are fashioned with longitudinally extending flanges l0 and ll that fit closely against and conform to the shape of the track rails, and thus afford the proper support for the load asthe wheels pass over the frog blocks.
The two blocks are held in rigid relation to their respective rails by clamping means attached to or carried by each frog block. As these fastening .devices or clamps are of duplicate construction and operation, a description of one will sullice for both.
A draw bar l2 which extends transversely of the frog block is bolted or otherwise secured at the underside of the block, and this bar is of suieient length to be slipped under the tlanged base oit the track rail with its free end at the edge ot the base opposite to the side of the trail at which the block is located.

After the car has been replaced, the bolts are loosened, and the bearing blocks 13 removed, thus releasing the riruw bars, and then the frog blocks may be removed until further required 'for use.
