In the accompanying sheet of drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view of my invention; Fig. 2, an edge view of same, and Fig. 3 a plan view of lath.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several figures.
A represents the ordinary metal furring, which is perforated with a series of holes at equal distances apart. The lathing B is placed against the under side of the furrin g, and through holes formed therein are placed a series of rivets, 0, these rivets having heads on one end, and the shank being formed of two pieces of metal, or bifurcated. When these rivets are passed through the holesin the furring the heads rest upon the upper sides of it, and the shank of the rivet projects below and between the edges of two adjoining sheets of lathing. The two sides of the rivet are then spread open until the rivet shall clamp by its spread parts the adjoining edges of the strips of lathing, in this way clamping the lathing firmly to the furring. The combination of the metallic furrin g and lathing with rivets having split or bifurcated shanks, substantially as and for the purpose described.
