`Application viiled vApril 13,
' `rlhis invention relates to a display device which may be inthe nature of an emblem, button, sign or advertising device.
The object of the invention is to provide a display device of this character'which has a reversible display element adapted'to carry diversified subject-matter on its two faces and.v alsoadapted to have either one of its faces readily 'moved' todisp-lay position and releasably though securely held in such position.
A further Objectis to provide a device of this character having these advantages and which is of simple and durable construction, reliable in operation, attractive and-ornamental in appearance and easy and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture. Y Other objects and advantages reside in certain novel features of the construction, arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appendedy claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which z- Figure l is a perspective view showing one embodiment of the invention,
YFigure 2 is a plan view thereof,
Figure 3 is an edge elevation showing one position of the parts, l
Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 3 showing another position of the parts,
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing another form of the invention,
Figure 6 is an edge elevational view thereof showing a device applied to a garment and in one position, and
Figure 7 is a view partly in perspective and partly in edge elevation showing another position of the parts illustrated in Figure 6. v
Referring to the drawings, and more particularly to Figures l to 4, inclusive, numeral l designates a mounting means in the form of a bar having a slot 2 along its underportion. The bar l may beprovided with a pin, clasp, or any other suitable means for securing it upon a supportlng structure. The bar l has soldered, brazed, welded, or otherwise suitably secured'to the front face thereof an emblem or plate-like member 3 which if not ornamented and filled to serve as an emblem bears suitable advertising indicia on its exposed face.. A main display element, designated at 4, is provided and is preferably in the form of a plate having its-upper end 1926. 'serial no. 101,168.
beveled, as at 5 and designedto bev received in the slot 2 ofthe' bar-"1f 'A stem 6 has its i lower end secured tothe crown `portion of' the upper end ofthe plate 4 and this stem 6o is suitably fitted in an opening?l provided there-for in the bar l. A coil' spring 8 e-nf v circles the pin6 land has its lowerl end i abutting the topofl the bar l and l'its upper end abutting thewasher 9V engaged with the 65 f head 10 of the stem 6.l The coil spring Seis tensioned to resiliently urge the plate 4 upwardly so that the beveled upper edge 5 of the plate 4 is seated in the slot 2 of the bar l. Thestem 6 is not only `a sliding fit 70 in the opening 7 but is also freelyrotatabley therein and consequently when the plate 4 is .pulled downwardly, as shown in Figure 4, it
or to any other suitable supporting struc- Y ture S by means of a stud 23 extending through the bar 20 and clamped to the clothing by means of nut-s 24. A reversible display element, designated at 25, ,is provided and consists ofya circularplate having a socket 26 at its center and a socket 27 fastened to its upper portion.V The socket 26 coacts with a ball member 28 provided on the outer end of the. studv23. The socket'27 has a ball 29 universally fit-ted therein. lThe 95 sock-et 27 may include a removable retaining ring to permit assembly of the ball 29 therewith and yet provided for theretention of the ball 29 therein.l A short rod 30 is i fixed to theball atone end and-to a shaft 31 loo at its other end, the rod 30 being secured to the intermediate portion of the shaft 31.
vThe end portions of the shaft 3l are rotatably fitted inthe bearing sleeves or ears 22.
VBoth faces of the display element 25 carry 105 advertising or `other VSubject-matter and either face may b e brought into play by' disengaging the display element from its hold-v` ing member, adjusting the display element to disclose the desired face and then again im engaging the display element with its holding means. In this form of the inventiony the holding means is Vthe ball and socket I 25; Whereas, in the other form of the inven tion the holding means is the beveled edge 5 of the display element and the slot 2Q In both eases the display elements are Connected Y to the mounting means in such manner as to provide for adjusting movement of the display element n at least two planes.
