' I have illustrated and shall describe my invention as a marker for skirts so as'to' en-f able the operator while wearing the skirt to evenly mark on the same aline or series of marks indicating a predetermined distancefrom the floor so thatthe skirt may be folded and shaped evenly to give 'the desired length. It is to be understood, that the invention is not restricted to any particular use as I desire to cover the same broadly; for any use to which it can be put. j v I A further object is to provide a device of this character which can be manufactured and sold at a'reasonably low price, and
which can be readily assembled by' any one of average training not requiring skilled labor. v v I A furtherobje'ct is to provide a device of this character which is extremely simple in construction, not liable to get out of repair, and which will most efficiently perform the functions forwhich it is intended.- 7,

The bottom plate 7 of receptacle Qjis shown in top plan in Figure 5. This plate is of general circular form and is secured to the bottom of receptacle 2'by bending the edges of said receptacle over the bottom plat e7, as shown at 14,- so as to make a tight-joint between the parts. This bottom plate 7 has an internally screw-threaded nipple 15 constituting an entrance for powder, indicated by reference numeral 16. A- screw plug17- is normally screwed lnto this nipple 15 and serves as a closure therefor and can be conveniently removed and a new supply of powder directed into the receptacle when the latter is in an inverted position.-
I would call particular attention to the v contour of'this bottom plate'7, shown in Figure 5, in which it will be noted that an extension 18 is provided on, this plate and this extension has a transversely extending depression 19- adjacent its outer edge which is connected by a relatively narrow passage with acentral circular depression 21 in plate 7.
The receptacle 2 above referred to has" an extension 22 thereon which corresponds in shape, that is, in plan with that of the ex tension 18 so that these two extensions form a nozzle 23 through which the powder is dis charged.
