UNITED STATES t me PATE I OFFICE.
AGLIBERT PILLET, OF BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA.
HAM'E' non DRAFT HoRs s on MULES.
Application filed August 20, 1924. Serial No. 733,212.
This invention relates to 'in'iprovements in; ,hames fol-draft horses or mules. e As is well known, heretofore it has been usual to construct hames from solid iron, 5 hollow iron, or from wood. but these constructions employed up to the present have not been satisfactory as in most cases they do not offer sufficient resistance inv service or they are inconvenient owing to their eX- cessive weight.
Thejpresent invention has for its object to provide an improved type of hames being of comparatively low weight butsufliciently resistant to resist tear and wear during service.
Amongst other types, it has been usual to construct hames from wood, reinforcing this construction by means of a metal plate dis-- posed at its outer surface. 7 However, practice has shown that this construction does not offer a desirable resistance, as in this way the parts which are principally subject to tear and wear remain unprotecte According to the present invention, the improved haine is constructed from wood in the usual mannerand reinforced by means of a metallic plate of substantial angular cross-section thereby providing an efiicient protection to allthose parts subject to strain during service.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing which shows a preferred form of'embodiment thereof,
with perforations to accommodate the usual bolts, or the like, for. securing the common rings 5 and hook 6.
Although the r-einforcement'member 2 in the present form is shown as being of substantial right-angled cross-section, I do not desire to limit my invention to the use of this particular section, as any other adequate angular cross-section maybe used, as for instance T, U, or V shape.
I claim The combination in Y hames for draft animals, ofa wooden member constituting the support for the usual connecting rings and hooks with a metallic reinforcement ofsub stantially right angled cross-section one'face of which'is disposed on that portion of the hame which is to the rear with regard to the line of draft and'the other face disposed on the outer face of the hame adjacent thereto.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature,
.AGLIBERT BIL ET.
