Application filed February 10, 1923, Serial This invention relates to a swing, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the occupant of the swing can cause the same to move through means of a cable and actuating means connected with the upper end of the swing.
Another objectof the invention is to provide holding means at the lower end of the swing for receiving a body containing one or more seats and which is preferably made in the form of a boat.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views. and'in which Figure 1 is a front view of the invention, the supporting frame of which is connected with the ceiling of a porch.

Referring to the first form of the invention 1 indicates frame which is adapted to be secured to the ceiling of a porch or other horizontal support, said frame including the depending parts 2 which support the shaft 3. A pair of castings 4 are rotatably mounted on said shaft by means of the roller bearings 5 and each casting is provided with a pair of depending socket members 6 which are screw threaded to receive the screw threaded ends of the diverging rods 7. These rods are locked in the sockets by means of the nuts 8. The lower ends of the rods are connected to a cradle 9 which is arranged to receive a body 10 which is preferably made in the form of a boat and contains the seats 11. Each casting is provided with an upwardly extending ear 12 and a No. 618,354. Renewed December 27, 1926.
yoke 13 is pivotally connected to the frame so that it can have rocking movement about a horizontal axis and said yoke is connected by the links 14 with the cars 12 of the casting. A cable 15 has its upper end connected with the yoke and said cable is adapted to be pulled upon by the occupant of the swing so as to rock the yoke and this rocking movement of the yoke will be communicated to the casting at so that the swing will be oscillated. As the castings are arranged on roller bearings the swing can be actuated with the minimum amount of effort so that a child can operate the device. The castings d are connected together by rods 4:, so that the swing is supported by a frame which consists of the two castings and the rods and which is of great strength.
The frame can be bolted together so that it can be knocked down when not in use and stored away.
Instead of having the frame connected with a ceiling or the like I may support the shaft 3 by means of the frame 16 which is made somewhat similar to the lawn type of swing. This frame would also be bolted together so that it can be taken apart when the swing is not in use.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appenoed claim.
l Vhat I claim is A swing of the class described comprising a supporting frame, a shaft carried thereby, a pair of castings rotatably mounted on the ends of the shaft, rods connecting the castings together and each casting having a pair of depending socket members and an upwardly extending ear, a rod threaded in each socket member, a seat carrying part connected with the lower ends of the rod a yoke pivotally connected with the frame, links connecting the yoke with the ears of the castings and a cable connected with the yoke and extending to a point where it may be seized by an occupant of the swing.
