HARRY E. BELL, or roar WORTH; TEXAS.
TOY nn'nnnn' snoornn.
Application filed April 26, I926. SerialNo. 104,620.
. My invention relates, to toys and' nore Lparticularly to imitation pistols for shootingrubbopbands and the like; and tho'object is 'to provide simpledevices which can be produced and sold at "small cost' f or' amusement purposes and which are harmless. Other, objects and-advantages will be fully explained in" the. following description and the invention will be more particularly .pointedout in the claims.
Reference is had to the accompanying.
drawing which forms'a part of this appli-' cation. v
Fig. 1.is a side elevation ofthe toy. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same.
-' Fig. 3 is. :i side elevation of a toy, showing a variation in the spring.
4.- is a side elevation, illustrating a variation in the release device. Similar characters of reference are used to indicatethe same parts throughout the several views. I r .This device includes a body having .a member 1 corresponding to the barrel of the gun or pistol and a handle 2-corresponding to the handle of a pistol. Near the juncture of the handle with the barrel a recess. 3 is-made in the handle. A trigger 4; is pivotally'mounted on the handle by w meansof a stirrup?) which has the .terminals driven into the handle 2 and the loop of the stirrup rests in a notch or recess 6 in the handleQ. The trigger 4 has a lug 7 which is adapted to press the charge or load in the recess 3. A coiled spring 8 has one end 9 caught in a recess 10 in the outer face of the trigger 4 and the other end 11 hearing against the handle 2. The spring 8' keeps the trigger 4 pressed towards the recess 3- so that the lug 7 will press a per tion of the charge or load material intothe recess 3. The material used by this toy is elastic bands 12. At the outer end of the "toy, a band'12 iscaught'on the end of the barrel and stretched back over-the juncture of the handle with thebarrel and"pl'aced in the recessi-l. Thetrigger 4' is raised. out
of the recess by pressing on theend 13' so that the rubber band may be inserted in the recess 3. The rubber "or elastic band is folded upon itself and the lug 7 presseson.
' the folded end or near the end.
, After the device is loaded, the load will be discharged when the lug 7 is raised from Q 4 the end of th'e'load. This is done by ,pressing on the end 13 of the handle. In load "ing the device, the elastic band 12 is caught across the end of the barrel, as shown in Fig. 1, and'then stretched back on top of the barrel and then downwardly on the rearbarrel with the handle and pressed into the recess 3. I
The variation. shown in Fig. 3 consists in: using a spiralspring 14 which isused instead of the spring 8; andplacmg the spring 14L at a different location.
part of the" barrel orthe juncture of the p Instead .of pressing on the trigger end 13,
. an additional trigger 15 may be pivotally mounted on thehandle, as shown in Fig. 4,
and a stirrup 16 used to pull on the trigger end 13 when the trigger 15 is actuated. Inaddition to the objects above'set forth,
the toymay be used asan advertising mepress in said recess.
'2. A. rubber shooteri'comprising a body provided with abarrel and a handle therefor having a recess near the juncture of the .handle with said barrel, a trigger in the form of asleverz fulcrumed on said handle and-provided with a lug adapted to press into said recess' for holding a charge, and a spring engaging said handle and said lever andjadapted to press said lug into said recess for holding a charge.
3. A toy rubber shooter comprising a body provided with a barrel a handle there for having a recess near the juncture of, the 'handlewith saidbarrel, a trigger lever provided with. a lug adapted to press into said recess, a stirrup engaging said body and saidlever and formingla fulcrum for said lever, anda'spring normally prcssing'into' said recess.
