Jxtending through the bushing -11 is a plug valve referred to generally by the reference character 24 and which consists of a body portion formed of a tapered upper` f part 25 of circular cross section, an intermediate part 26 having a taperedl outer peripheryv27 and a vertically disposed plane inner periphery 28. The said intermediate part 26 is segmental in cross section. The plug valve further includes a tapered lower part 29 of circular cross section and which has 4depending from the bottom thereof a circular collar 30 which is inset with respect to formed vwith a centrally dispose the outer periphery of the said part 29. The bottom of the lower partl29' is formed with a pocket or recess 31 and the inner face ci the collar 30 forms a'continuation of the wall of the recess 31. The lower art 29 is vertically extending passage32v which opens into the recess 31 at the top "thereof andsaid recess 31- opens intothe chamber 20.' The lower corner` 33 of the part 29 is positioned below -the bottom edge of the bushing 11 andseats on the wall of the flaring portion 20 of vthe chamber 19. The collar 30 extends into the chamber 19. The opter face 27 of the intermediate part 26 forms a continuation of the y. outer faceof the upper part 25 and the lower part 29 of the plug valve. Formed integral with the top of the upper part, 25v of the plug valve is a polygonal extension 34, which is arranged exteriorly of the casing 5. Connected to the `extension 34 is a shifting means, of known construction, for the plug valve and'said means is indicated at 35. It is thought unnecessary to specifically describe this means as it is the shifting mechanism now employed for the plugvalves of angle cocks.

Projecting from that side of the body port-ion 6 provided with the slot 9 is a curved tubular, interiorly threaded extension 37 for connecting a section of the hose line with the angle cock.v The hose line section is not shown.
Arranged within the body4 portion 19, mounted upon the seat 23 and extending into the pocket 31, as well as bearing against the part 29 of the plug valve, is a coiled spring 38 which normally acts to maintain the plug valve in engagement with the inner face of thebushing 11 in a snug-likel manner, but
not to prevent the shifting of the plug valve opens into the atmosphere and is positioned` in one of the non-slotted sides of said body portion 6v and is further arranged a substantial distance above the bottom of the body portion. It is the outer end of the port 39 which opens into the atmosphere and the inner end of said port registers with an inclined port 40' formed in the vbushing 11 at a point in close proximity, but below, of the transverse median of the bushing 11. The outer end of the port 40 registers with the inner end of the port 39 and theinner end of the port 40 opens into the chamber 8. The port 40 extends in the saine plane as the port 39. The ports 39 and 40 incline downwardly with respect'tothe vert-ical axis of the body portion 6. Thel ports 39 and 40 are provided for reducing the pressure of air -on the air hoseline to an extent to prevent the separation of .the sections of the hose line, to overcome thc pulling of the train pipe section from under the car during the uncoupling of the hose line sections, to prevent the flying around of the hose sections in the direction to injure/'a trainman, to overcome the blowing of cinders and dust into the :tace of the trainman when uncoupling they hose line sections, to prevent the sticking of the brakes, and to readily indicate to the englneer that something is wrong with the brake systemwhen the angle cock is closed,

Owing tothe manner of positioning the part 25.-'of the valve plug so that its lower end will extend below the top of the inlet and outlet for the valve chamber, the lower portion of said part 2 5, in connection with the intermediate part 26 acts as av means for opening and closing communication between the' train line section andthe hose line sections.` 'When the valveis in the position as shown in Figure4,
