This invention relates to improvements in portable fences, and the yprimary obJect of my inventionis to provide a fence ot this character which may be readily folded into a compact roll for transporting or storing the same.
A further object of the inventionv is the provision ot a fence of this character which may be readily and quiclrly placed 1n position as a fence and be dura kly supported.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a fence of this character having spring means associated therewith tor retaining the same tight at all times but permittinga slight yielding movement. h
still further object of the invention 1s the provision of a tence of thisv character which is comparatively simple in construction very durable, and eliicient for this purpose.

ln the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 10 generally indicates the supporting posts of my improved portable fence, these posts being` yrectangular in cross section and pointed at the lower end as shown at 11 to permit them to be readily forced into the ground. The upper extremities of the posts are provided with metallic bands 12 adapted to prevent splitting of the posts when being driven into the ground. Vertical connecting wires 19 connect with the connecting plates and retain the longitudinal strands in proper alignment.

In using my improved fence, when it is desired to form a comparatively small enclosure as shown in Figure 7, a pair of sections may be readily employed and connected as shown, the end posts being connected as shown in Figure 2, at an angular position. lVhen it is desirable to provide a larger enclosure. as shownin Figure 8, any number of sections may be employed, readily providing any size enclosure desired. It is to be noted that my improved fence will combine the durability of a permanent fence With the advantage of quicker construction and transportability.
