This invention relates to a shoe fitting device and more particularly to a device for determining whether a shoe made upon a given last properly fits the foot of the would be purchaser. 7

An important object of the invention is th provide a device of this character which permits observation of the toes of the foot while positioned upon the foot so that it maybe determined whether a shoe of that particular size and shape will provide proper room for the toes. v

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be secured upon the foot so that the wea er might stand and determine whether or not the toes move too far to the front of the shoe when weight is applied thereto and when he steps with the shoe in position upon his foot.

A further object of the invention is to provide'a device of this character which may be very readily and cheaply produced and which will be durableand eflicient in service.

These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawing, whereln for the purpose of 111115- tration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of a shoe fitting device constructed in accordance with my-invention; x A

Referring. now .more particularly to the drawings, the shoe includes a baseor sole section 10 having a portion 11 for engaging and limiting rearward movement of the foot within the shoe. The portion 11 isvpreferably provided with straps or similar expedients, as indicated at 12, whereby it may be secured about the instep to hold the base in position upon the foot. To this base is applied a false sole 13 which is preferably of paper having" its under surface -'gummed. Arising from this false sole is'a tipportiop 14. having opaque and transparent portions'15 and 16, the opaque portions 15 having upon their outer faces adhesive whereby they may be secured to the forward edges of the portions 11. The transparent portion 16 must extend at least to the'base of the toes but may be extended to the instep, as indicatedin the present illustration. The under surface of the false sole 13 is secured to the sole 10 in any suitable manner as by applying to the under surface of this false sole a layer of ad hesive. Any-suitable means may, however,- be provided for securing the tip section 14 to the sole 10. The construction illustrated is preferable for the reason that it permits ready removal of the tip in event of damage thereto so that it may be replaced. The transparent section 16 may be of isinglass or other suitable material.

Since the construction hei'einbefore described is obviously capable of a certain range of changeand modification without materially departing from the'sp-irit of the invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.

. 1 In a shoe fitting device, a sole element having at itsrear end means for limiting rearward movement of the foot thereon and having means whereby it may be secured in position upon the foot of the wearer and a toe structure secured to said sole element, and having a transparent portion exposing to view the toes of the wearer when the device is-in applied position upon the foot, said" toe structure having attachedthereto a false sole, said false solerbeing removably attached .to said'sole element.

2. In a shoe fitting device, a sole element having at its rear end means for limiting rearward movement of the foot thereon and having means whereby it may be secured in position upon. the foot of the wearer and a toe structure secured to said sole element and having atransparent portion exposing; to view the toes of the wearer when the device is in, applied position upon the foot, said'toe structure element having attached thereto a false sole the undersurface of which has applied thereto an adhesiy'e ele ment to permit its attachment to the sole element.
