The disks 1.0, 11 and 12 are each provided with threaded openings or eyes 39 angularly spaced according to the spacing of the digits on. their peripheral flanges but these eyes are all at uniform radial distances from the shaft so that, in certain positions of the various disks, the eyes are in registration, and
normally all those eyes except those desired for use are plugged, as by screws 40. The plan for plugging all but one or for plugging several in each disk leaves at least one open in each disk so that the several disks may be arranged with the eyes 39 in alignment with the bushing 41 in the face of the instrumentboard. In such position of the several disks, the switch operating key 42 may be inserted, the shank 43 of the latter passing through the bushing 41, through the several eyes 39 and entering the movable member 30 of the ignition switch, so that member may be actuated and the ignition circuit closed.
In the actuation of the lock, the upper or outer disk 10 is the only member actuated by the knob 16. When the number which has been selected for use to define the open or unlatching position of this disk has been selected, that number is brought under the observation opening 22 and the hole or eye 39 diametrically opposite will then be in position under or behind the bushing 41. This opening must be left open and all of the other openings or eyes 39 are preferably plugged by the insertion of the screws 40. The same method of setting applies to the remaining disks, so that when the selected three numbers are below the observation opening, there will be three unobstructed openings 39 below or behind the bushing 41, so that the actuating switch key may be inserted. When the disks have been moved so that these selected openings or eyes 39 have been disaligned, realignment may be efiected by the actuation of the knob 16.
The rotation of the knob 16 imparts rotary movement to the upper or outermost disk 10 and this motion is finaly communicated to the disk 11 when the radial pin 44 on the upstanding flange of the disk 10 engages an inwardly directed pin 45 on the corresponding flange of the disk 11. The two disks then rotate together until the pin 46 on the outside of the upstanding disk 12 engages an inwardly directed pin 47 on the flange of the disk 12. The three disks are then rotated by the knob until the first digit of the combination, as 4 in Figure 1, appears under the observation opening. Reverse movement must then be imparted to the knob 16, for further movement in the same direction would result in carrying the disk 12 around with the knob but to leave the digit 4 under the opening, the operative connection between the disks 11 and 12 must be disengaged and the reverse movement of the knob will effect this since the pin 44 will then move away from the pin 45 and when the disk 10 has completed a movement of 360 degrees, the pin 44 will engage the pin 45 on the other side and rotate the disk 11 in the opposite direction and, when the necessary digit such as 6 in Figure 1 appears below the observation opening, the rotation of the knob is reversed and the disk 12 moved in the original direction until its selected digit, such as 3 appearing in Figure 1, falls below the observation opening. The unobstructed openings or eyes are then aligned and the switch key may then be inserted and the switch actuated.
In the relocking operation, the mere rotation ofthe knob, after the withdrawal of the switch actuating key, will serve to effect the necessary disarrangement of the relation between the disks, so that they will obstruct the passage of the switch-actuating key.
The invention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is:
1. A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a plurality of concentric disks of pan shape and arranged in superposed relation and provided with peripheral flanges lying in a common plane and inscribed with indicating characters, manual means for actuating one of the disks, and operative connections between it and the other disks.
2. A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a plurality of concentric disks of pan shape and arranged in superposed relation and provided with peripheral flanges V lying in a common plane and inscribed with indicating characters, manual means for actuating one of the disks, and operative connections between it and the other disks, said operative connections com prising abutment pins disposed radially of the upstanding flanges of the disks. 1
3. A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a plurality of concentric disks of pan shape and arrangedin superposed relation and provided with peripheral flanges lying in a common plane and inscribed with indicating characters, a knob connected with the uppermost disk, and radially disposed abutment pins arranged on the upstanding flanges of the disks.

5. A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a plurality of concentric disks of pan shape and arranged in superposed relation and provided With peripheral flanges lying in a common plane and inscribed with indicating characters, a knob connected with the uppermost disk, radially disposed abutment pins arranged on the upstanding flanges of the disks, the disks being provided With axially aligned circular series of perforations aligning with the alignment of the indicating characters, and removable plugs for insertion in said perforations so that all but selected perforations may be closed.
6. A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a casing, a plurality of concentric disks arranged in said casing in superposed relation and provided at their peripheries with indicating characters, disk actuating means, and a removable back or bottom for the casing, the disk actuating means comprising a shaft and a back or bottom having a flat spring bearing upon the shaft, the back or bottom having an interlocking engagement With the casing.
7 A switch lock of the kind indicated comprising a casing, a plurality of con centric disks arranged in said casing in superposed relation and provided at their peripheries with indicating characters, disk actuating means, a removable back or bottom for the casing, the disk actuating means comprising a shaft and a back or bottom having a flat spring bearing upon the shaft, the casing having an inturned peripheral flange provided with uniformly spaced key-hole slots and the bottom having peripheral radial ears insertible through the open sides of said slots, and pins engaged in the lateral extensions of said slots.
