WILLIAM E. nounn'rmn, QF CLAREMQNT, NEW, HAMPSHIRE, Assignee @SULLIVAN MACHINERY COMBANX, A CQRl-.0R-"l.Tl0l\TV 0F MASSACHUSETTS- MINlNG APPARATUS.
Application filed May 4,
My invention relates tomining apparatus.
It has for its 'object Vto provide an improved and simplified Amining machinesupport whereby a mining machine maybe supported above the bottonrt'or movementrelative to thebottom andwhereupon the minlnsfmahne may be loaded, Support and all, upon truck `for transport. A further object of: my invention i'vsfftov provide an im proved supper-tof the character set .forth wliiclris n ot onlyfsimple:in construction and adjaf'ited to be manufactured at small j eX- pense while retaining thedesiredruggedness off characterinecessary to its service, `but which also. is `ot a'jtypepermitting variations in height'ofthe support yto be conveniently obtained without materiallyv increasing the Costi f In the accompanying `drawings I have ,show nfor .purposes of illustration two'embodiments vwhich ymy invention may assume in practice.
Inthese drawings- Y Fig. 1 isI a sideielevation ofxamining machine equipped with my improvement and loaded upon its truck.
Fig. 2.isi a side elevation of one form of my mpleveil Surnertj i Fig. w's a tran'sversev sectional view on .line 3-f3ofFig-2.
F ig. 4 is a similar transverse section of my improved Vconstructon adaptedy to use in a lewerslippot-f VIn the .accompanyingr drawings, ,l have shown for purposes of illustration a mining machinel of standard construction.mounted on a, truck 2 of similarstandard constructioirand adapted to drivethe truck wheels v3,throughdriving connections 4, 5, the mining machine .herein being Vcarried uponV an improved machine support hereinafter described upon which the machine may be moved relative -to `thebettoin or on which themacliine may be loaded onfto the truck, the machine when. loaded en te thetruel being latchedfinto position `thereon by means of a `svi/ inging latchlon the support engaging 4a latchingplate 7 carried `bythe side'of lthe truck. lnI myy improvedconstruction a bottom engagingshoefor skid Sisprovided preferably having Eupturn ed frontend, rear ends 9 and; Slightly 'uptureedi .Sides l0 te. permit a free. universal inoxfjenient o'ffthejbottom plate 1922.y Serial No. 558,448.
,'orm of another pair Vojt'iangle irons 14 liliewise longitudinally disposed 'and herein having a plurality of transverse bracing angles disposed between the same, said angle members 14 and 15 being rigidly connected to. thebottom engaging shoe S as by riveting.
'In the relatively high form ofmy improved support showirin F ig. 3 upstanding'inter- 'mediate plates 16 of suitable Vheight and forming extensions'of the angle irons are attached yboth to the depending portions or' the angles 11 andfto the 'iipstanding portions of the' angles 14, by suitable rivets 17, while lthe relatively low form of my improved .support shown in Fig. 4 the depending portionsv of the angles 11 are directly connected tothe upstanding portions of the angles 14 by similar rivets 18.
As ,a result of my improved construction,
fit will be evident that yit is possible to provide a support for a mining machine which is 'not only oi exceedinglysimple and rugged construction, butwhich at the Sametime gives a high Ydegree of iiexibility as to height, theupper angles, for example. be ing sunplyspaced wider apart and adapted to be connected to vtheglower anglesby a connecting member of any desired height when relatively high support is required, and'adapted to be moved over closer together and fastened directly atany desired `height to the lower angles when 'a lower Vheight i.s"reqiiired. Attention is also directed to the fact that as shown in Fig. 3, my improved construction permits ot the disposition of .the latch` 6 and itssupport within the vlines of the machine support when a high support is used. i
fllilhilelhave in this application specilically described two forms which myfinven-` tion may assume inpractice, it will be understood that these forms of the same are shown Jfor purposes of illustration and that the invention may be modified and embodied in various other forms vwithout departing n from its spirit or the scope of the appended cianns.
What l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
