SPRAY- HEAD VALVE.
Application led `February This invention relates to improvements in spray head valves more particularly adapted for use in connection with washfountains.
In washfou-ntains now in general use, in factories and similar places the fountain is of circular shape to provide for a number of persons washing at the same time and to permit this a circular line of'fme jets of water is discharged from the head of the washfountain, At times, however, only one or two persons may wash at the same time with the result that as the water is flowing all around the fountain, a considerable amount of the flowing water is not used and is wasted. Y
It is one of the objects of the present in vention to overcome the beforementioned objectionable fea-tures and provide a spray head valve which is formed with a number of spray sections which may be controlled by the users to discharge water from one or moresections as desired.
A further object of the invention is to provide a spray head valve in which thetiow of water from the vdifferent sections is controlled by a single valve.v v j Y A further object of the invention is to provide a spray head valve in which means are provided for indicating the position of thevalve handle with respect to the control of the sections. j n
A further object ofthe invention is to provide a spray head valve which is of simple construction, isv strong and durable, and is well adapted for the purpose described. j

'I he spray head is of circular formation and comprises the upper member 7 vformed, with a downwardly extending annular liange 8 which extends over and has a threaded en# gagement with the lower member 49. The flange 8 of the uppery member is provided with an outwardly projecting rib 13 which is formed with a circumferential line of downwardly inclined radial jet or spray openings llirextending through the flange and rib. The upper member 7 is formed with an inner circular partition 15 which is positioned in eccentric relation to the upper member to form a valve casing for a rotary valve 16 mounted therein. The upper member is also provided with radial partitions 17 extending from the annular flange 8 to the circular partition 15 to divide the head into four water compartments, 18, 18, 182 4and 183 of equal size circumferentially The circular partition 15 is provided with` ports 19 `extending through the partition which register with the elongated port 2O of the valve Y16 in successive order as` the valve is turned. The valve port 20 extends approximately around one half the diameter ofthe valve one half the diameter of thev circularpartition Ior valve casing 15 so that with the valve in the position shown in Fig. 2, the water supply to al1 of the compartments will be closed. Now by turning the valve anticlockwise with reference to F ig. t, the port 19 to compartment 18 will first be opened and water will be supplied to one quarter of the spray head which is sufficient to supply several persons with water for washing. If a vgreater number desire to wash at the same time, the valve is further turned to supply water to the port of compartment 18 and when this is done, water will be kdischarged from one half of the spray openings to accommodate more persons. A` further turning of the valvebwill open the supply to compartment 182 and 183 as desired. p
A valve stem 21 extends upwardly through 9U and the ports 19 are all `positioned withinthe upper member 7 and is provided with a handle 22 for convenience in turning the valve, and the upper member 7 is provided with spaced characters 23 to indicate the position of thel valve.
The valve 12 is mounted uponV the lower end of a valve stem 2t which extends upwardly through the upper memebr 7 and is provided with a handle 25 on its upper end for convenience in turning.
Stop members 26 are provided in the rotary valve 16 which are positioned to engage the valve stem 2st to limit the movement of said valve 16.
Stuliing nuts 27 and 28 are provided for the valve stems 21 and 2st respectively to prevent leaking ot' water around the said stems.
In use the valve 12 controls the tlow of water to the spray head while the valve 16 controls the number of compartments or sections from which the water is discharged.
The water in passing from the valve 16 through the ports and into the compartments will lose considerable of its pressure and be discharged trom the jet opening in a manner to avoid splashing when playing on the hands of the persons washing.
F rom the foregoing description it will be seen that the spray head valve is of very simple construction, is strong and durable and well adapted ior the purpose described.
lVhat I claim as my invention is:
1. A vspray head valve, comprising a casing member having a plurality ot jet openings, partitions dividing the easing member into a valve casing entirely within the casing member and three or more compartments in register with the jet openings, said compartments entirely surrounding the valve casing and said valve casing having an inlet openingand ports opening into the compartments, and a. valve member within the valve casing and having a port, said valve member being movable to register its port with the valve casing ports to direct a tiuid into one or more or all of the compartments.
2. A spray head valve, comprising a casing member having a. plurality of jet openings extending around the outer side portion, partitions dividing the casing member into a valve casing and valso into three or more compartments in register with the jet openings, said compartmentsl entirely surrounding the valve casing and said valve casing having an inlet opening and ports opening into the compartments, and a valve member within the valve casing and having a port, said valve member being movable to register' its port with the valve casing ports to direct a fluid into one or more or all of the compartments.
3. A spray head valve. comprising a two part casing member having a fluid inlet opening and a plurality ot' peripheral jet openings, partitions dividing the casing into a valve casing and also into three or more compartments in register with the jet openings, the lluid inlet opening, opening into the valve casing space, said compartments entirely surrounding the valve casing and said valve casing having ports opening into the compartments, a valve member within the valve casing and having a single elongated port, said valve member being movable to register its port with one or more or all ot the valve casing ports to direct the fluid into one or more ot the con'ipartments, means within the valve casing and extending above the casing member for controlling the flow ot the iiuid into the valve casing space, and means tor turning the valve member.

A spray head valve, comprising a two part circular casing member having a liuid inlet opening and peripheral jet openings, partitions dividing the casing into a circular valve casing in eccentric relation to the casing` member and also dividing the casing into three or more compartments in register with the jet openings, said Compartments entirely surrounding the valve casing and said valve casing having ports opening into the coii'ipartments, a cylindrical valve member within the valve casing and having a single port, said valve member being movable to register its portwith one or more or all of the compartments, a valve for the casing inlet opening and having a stem which extends upwardly through the casing, and means extending upwardly through the casing for turning the cylindrical valve.
5. A spray head valve, comprising a two part circular casing member having a fiuid inlet opening and peripheral jet openings, partitions dividing' the casing into a circular valve casing in eccentric relation to the casing member and also dividing the casing into three or more compartments in register with the jet openings, said compartments entirely surrounding the valve and said valve casing having ports opening into the compartments, a cylindrical valve member within the valve casing and having a port, said valve member being movable to register its port with one or more or all ot the compartments, a valve within the cylindrical valve for controlling the casing member inlet opening and having a stem which extends upwardly through the easing. a valve stem connected to the cylindrical valve and extending upwardly through the casing, and means above the casing member for indicating the position ot the cylindrical valve.
6. A spray head valve, comprising a two part circular casing member having a iuid inlet opening and peripheral liet openings, a cylindrical valve casing partition within the casing and in eccentric relation thereto and having parts extending therethrough,
