This invention relates to improvements in vanes for rota-ry pumps or rotary engines. The object of the invention is to provide an improved4 vaneA withl yielding means interposed within the same whereby the vane will be held seated against the adjacent part to form and maintain a tight joint.

Considering the numbered parts of tle' drawing, my improved vane lis made up of opposed synnetrical plate-like -halves 2,. 3. I have not described the connections or ports to the pump in this behalf, as this invention pertains particularly. to the vane.
I have merely described vit in this @mec-f tionso that it may be readily understood what is accomplished in this particular structure. The lugs 9 and 10-are'of great lconsequence in certain structures, but the parts may be maintained in contact by centrifugal vforce. In a rotary pump where the enti-re parts revolve at high speed these --lugs may be dispensed with.
Having thus escribed my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A vane for a rotary pump or engine comprising a pair of plates slidably overlapping -each other in transverse planes, and
