Ina boat, a pair of clips for attachment to the gunwale of the boat on opposite sides and having an opening to receive the respective ends of a rib, in combination with a removable rib having its ends insertable in said openings when its mid portion is displaced laterally from its normal position and locked therein by its changed position when said portion is moved to its normal position.

In a boat, a hollow clip for attachment to the gunwale of the boat and having a horizontally elongated opening thru its exposed wall in combination with a rib having an offset end insertable thru said opening when the rib is substantially parallel with the longest axis of said opening and locked in said opening when the rib is rotated to a position at an angle from said axis.

3. In a boat, a clip for attachment to the gunwale of the boat comprising a piece of sheet metal bent back upon itself to provide two spaced walls, between which walls is inserted arod comprising a part of the gunwale of'the boat; and having an elongated opening in one wall thru which is inserted the end of a rib, and a rib having an oiiset end insertable in said opening when the rib is in one plane and locked in said opening when the rib is rotated into another plane.
