Vith reference to the drawings, 10 indicates the outer casing or barrel being swaged as at 11 and slotted as at 12 to form a split tip. The numeral 13 indicates an inner barrel, extending about one-half the length of the Outer casing or barrel 10, the lower end of said barrel 13 havinga plug 14 fiXedly attached thereto, and the upper end of said barrel frictionally engages the cap 15 and also forms a receptacle for the eraser 1-6 ,the said inner barrel is slightly bent or turned outwardly as at 17 to form a seat for the eraser 16. The outside diameter of the inner barrel 13 is smaller than the inside diameter of the outer casing 10 by twice the thickness of the shell 18, thus causing the inner barrel, when inserted in the outer cas.-

The circular nut 22 isthreaded interiorly and the upper -portionv of said nut. extendsoutwardly forming a shoulder 23, said shoulder being about twice thecircumference as the lower portion of the nut. The shoulder 23 is slotted as at 24, said slot being adapted to engage the fin. The nut 22, as will be seen, screws on toV the slotted tubing 21.
A feed wire 26 is bent slightly upwardly as at 27 and 28 and between these two points the wire is so stamped as to form the two shoulders 29 and 30 on the opposite side of the feed wire. sembled as follows: Y
That portion of the feed wire below the shoulder 30 is iirst inserted into the slotted tubing 21; the nut 22V isthen placed on the feed'wire between the shoulders 29 and 30 and thence is screwed lon to the tubing, the shoulders 29 and 30 riding in the slotted portion of the tubing; causing thefnut to be securely locked between the shoulders 29 and 30. By a 'turning of ther cap 15, which is rictionally mounted upon the inner barrel 13, in .a clockwise direction, said inner barrel will also revolve in aclockwise directionand the externally threaded slotted tubing 21, being; lixedly at tached to said inner barrel, will be caused to revolve in the saine direction, causing the nut 22 to unscrew in the direction ot the tip; the feed wire 26 beingI .attached to said' nut and having shoulders riding in the slet in the tubing 21., will. also pursue a downwand direction, andthe lead 37 being situated in the tubing 21 vdirectly .below said vfeed wire, will be crced out through the splittip 12.
