lle it known that I, LEwis S. CmCnEsrEu, of the city and State oi New York, have invented and made an improvement in llulling and Seouring Machines, of whieh the following: is u specification:

This invention is for the purpose of removing" the hulls from wheat and other grain previous to its being' ground or otherwise prepared i'or market; and consists in peculiarlyeonstructed rubbing-hands, that revolve in asnitablo ease, in combina-tion with delleetors, and u trunk for a suctieirblast to carry away the dust and hulls.

I have shown four extending out from a hub, and eaeh V-shapcd har is corrugated or roughened upon its outer and operative sin-linee, and it is generally eoncave, the end oi' the curved bar being' in advance ot' the conca-ve portion, the

Several of the hubs with the hands o, according to the size of the huller, are placed side by side. on each et' the shafts c d o, and rlnly secured by keys or otherwise to those shafts, re ipeetively. These shafts are in boxes upon a frame, f, and they are revolved by competent power in the direction of the arrows, and the shafts d and c are preferably revolved faster than the shaftc. Below the hands a a there is a eoneave bottom, g, preferably made ot' wire cloth or similar material, in concave sections, as shown, and these coin cave bottoms are secured to a. frame, g', that is hinged at 7 to the frame f, so that it can be swung downto allow for cleaning the grating. There is a cover, h, over the rubbers or hands,

with curved adjustable delleetors k, each oi' which is hinged at L', and raised or lowered by the rod3,m.'1dewilh holes for a sustaining pin.

The grain is introduced through the hopper l, and the quantity is regulated by the damper 4. I remark` that it is generally prelbrableto meisten the grain with water bbl'ore hulline', because the hulls will be soll-oued and moruey easily rubbed oli', and the grain will be lhs-s liable to be broken. I claim as my inventionl. The. revolving hands or rubbers a a, in combination with the adjustable delleetors k and trunk 7c', substantially as set'forth.

2. The hands or rubbers made seetionally of a. V shape, and curved forward ut their ends, und revolved in pairs within the grainreeeptaele to loosen and separate the hulls by the rubbing moa ion specified.
