Description

K. A. REGNHOLM COMBINED PEN STAND, PEN WIPER, AND BLQT PREVENTEB June 1 1926.
Filed April 9. 1924 Klara. Mivldo. Regnhfl m QNVENTOR; By W 'L KM Attorney Patented June 1, 1926.
rate-3t KLARA ALFEIDA REGNI-IOLM, 0F STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN.
COMBINED PEN STAND, PENWIPER, AND BLOT PREVENTER.
Application filed April 9, 1924, Serial No. 705,203, and in Sweden May 29, 1922.
Pupils of all ages who are obliged now and then during a writing-lesson to cease writing for a few n'i'inutes have no convenient place to put their pens during the pause.
They either place them in the so-called pen-groove on the desk, whereby they more or less stain the desk by ink, which the school desks show Very well, or they let them stand in the ink-wells, which spoil the pens, if allowed to stand for a long while and often, owing to the generally limited space of the room, a little push or quick turn of a pupil causes cascades of ink to dart over the pupils own desk or over those of the comrades.
Said inconveniences might be entirely overcome by placing a collar of joined strips of blotting paper or other ink absorbing material around the ink stand or its neck so firmly that the pen put therein may get a firm hold and be wiped at the same time.
Said collar may be fastened to the inside of a broader ring-segment of cardboard or metal. and on a level with its upper border. 'ihe lower free border is then pushed down between the ink-stand and the walls of the cavity for the same. In order to make the collar suitable for ink-stands and cavities for same of different sizes it may be made open and elastic. For ink-stands of the standard size it may of course be closed.
For free-standing ink-stands for offices and such like the ink-staml-collar may be fastened to a steady support on which the ink-stand is placed inside the collar.
Fig. 1 is an elevation with certain of the parts broken away.
Fig. 2 is an elevation showing a modification.
The accompanying drawing shows partly forming together a in section two embodiments of a combined pen-stand, pen-wiper and blot-preventcr according to this invention. In both cases the article is made out of a number of strips of 46 blotting paper 1 placed close to each other in a casing, the edges of said strips at one side free surface 2 which is turned upwards when the collar is placed round the ink-stand, see Fig. 1, which shows 50 the blot-preventer placed onto the ink-well, indicated by the numeral 6 in the drawing. in the said collar the pen is fastened andwiped off, and the waste ink is also absorbed by the same. In Fig. 1 the strips 1 are shown fastened in a casing 3 of paper, which is provided on the inside with a ring 4 concentric to the casing, the strips being fixed between said ring and the wall of the casing. In F i g. 2 the casing is made of tin and on the inside provided with a ring of flaps 5 for holding the blotting-papcr-st-rips. This arrangement makes possible a renewal of strips when necessary.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A combined pen-stand, pen-wiper and blot-prevcnter adapted to be mounted around the opening of ink-bottles and the like, comprising a collar consisting of superposed strips of ink absorbing material, a coil ring arranged on the inner strip and a casing coaxially surrounding and wider than said ring and collar. whereby the ring and 7 collar in their entirety may be pushed down over the bottle and be securely held around the neck of the same.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name.
KLARA ALFRIDA REGNHOLM.
