The frame 1 is also provided with bracket arms 42, 4-2, each having two sockets 43, 43 on the under side thereof, from which holes lat, l i, extend up through the arms.

Another bracket 50 is provided with suitable holes, 51, 51, or other appropriate means, for facilitating its attachment to the same support which carries the brackets 35, and it has an arm 52, provided with an upper socket 523, and a lower socket 54, connected by a central bore 55.
To the lower part of the frame 1 is secured a bracket 56, having a socket 57 in the upper side thereof, from which a hole 58 extends down through the bracket. And in and between the sockets 54, 57 is inserted a spring 59; while in and above the socket 53 is placed another spring 60, a bolt 61 being passed loosely up through the sockets and springs and secured by a nut 62 threaded upon its end.
It will be seen, then, that the frame 1 of the apparatus will be carried by the springs 4:5, 4-5, 59, interposed between it and the brackets 4-9, 4-2, and 57 respectively, so that it is cushioned against any jars 0r shocks sustained by its supporting structure, the bolts 47, t7 and (31 playing through the brackets to accommodate themselves to the contraction and expansion of the springs, within the limits fixed by the nuts 48, 48
and 62, by means of which the tension of the springs and the amount of play permitted to the frame 1 may be regulated.
By means of my improvements the operation of the placard releasing mechanism is made dependable and positive even under conditions of jar and shock; and the effect of such jars and shocks as railway and trolley cars, or motor busses and like conveyances are subjected to in use is so diminished as not to seriously affect or interfere with the proper functioning of the appaatus.
It will be understood that the means which I have illustrated and described as embodying my improvements is to be considered as typical and not as an exclusive form; for details of construction may be modified, as by the use of equivalents and the like, without departing from the spirit of my invention as described and claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. In a display apparatus, the combination of a rotatable placard carrier, a plurality of flexible placards carried thereby, automatic carrier driving means, placard unrolling means embodying a slotted cam race, an arm actuated thereby, and placard engaging elements reciprocated by the arm and a "frame in which the apparatus is assembled.
2. In a display apparatus, the combination of a rotatable placard carrier, a plurality ot flexible placards carried thereby automatic carrier driving means, vlacard unrolling means embodying a slotted cam race, formed between a centrally disposed cam and an independently supported surrounding track, an arm actuated thereby, and placard engaging elements reciprocated by the arm and a frame in which the apparatus is assembled.
