siding at Baltimore, in the StateofiMary land, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade Brackets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to-the accompanying drawing.

Attached to each ofthe side frames 1 and 2 is a base plate 3, the'two base plates prefera bly having their inner endsflush with the inner edge of the frame, and both being p os tioned in horizontal alignment near the upper portion of the said side frames. My improved shade supporting bracket arm consists of a substantially T-shaped sheet metal member 13, provided near its outer end with an aperture 14, into "which the end bearing of thewindow shade 16 is inserted. The back of the bracket arm 13 is provided with an inwardly extending, substantially T-shaped notch 17 of a size and shape such that. the. bracket arm may he slipped endwise on the base plate 3, with the flanges 5 and 6 closely fitting and contacting with the top and bottom of the notch 17 and with the flanges 7 and 8 closely fitting within the ends of the T-shaped i otch 17. The lower end of the bracket arm 13 is extended to form a foot 18 adapted to bear on the face of the window or door frame to prevent the downward movement of the bl'HCKEt and to relieve the strain on the upper flange 7. The said bracket arm 13 is further provided with elongated notches 19 and 20 and with an indentation 21 for-purposes to be hereinafter described.
. brac etabo My improved fastening clip for maintaining the bracket arm 13 'in its adjusted position on the base plate 3, comprises a resilient clip 22 stamped from sheet metal in the form shown in Fig. 8 and bent into the form shown inFig. 7. The mid portion of the clip is provided with an inwardly extending projection 23 formed by thense of a suitable die during the stamping opcration, and the spacebetweeii the long side walls of the clip, when in the form shown in Fig. 7 is slightly less than the thickness of the bracket arm 13, so that when clip is slipped on to the bracket arm 13,11116 said side walls will frictionally engagethe sides of the bracket arm and the pro ection A i-Swill drop'or spring into the corresponding depression 21 formed in the'side walljof the bracket arm. The bracket arm 13 is then slipped eiidwise onto the base plate 3 and moved along until the distance between the bracket arm on opposite sides of the door or window frame is proper to accommodate and support the end bearings 15 of the shade '16. The resilient clip 22 is then slipped over the outer end of the bracket arm 13 and forced rearwardly until the upper and lower side walls of the inner ends of the clip move between the teeth on opposite sides of the bracket arm and the notches 24 and 25 fit into the notches 19 and 20, and the projection 23 springs into the indentation 21. The tapered shape of the top and bottom edges of the bracket 13 is such that the clip 22 is readilyguided into position on the bracket and within the upper and lower slots and 20 respectively.
Itv will thus be seen thatI have provided a window shade bracket which maybe ad justed longitudinally of the door or window frame to accommodate and support shade rollers of different lengths. The bracket, when assembled'ai d secured to the frame as above described, comprises anunusuallyiirm and rigid bracket and one that will not be loosened or pulled from the frame by the weight of the shade or roller and the downwardpiills andstrains to which such a bracket is necessarily subjected when in use. The non-metallic bar 11 'fitting within the base plate 3 between the upper and lower sections 5 and 6 thereof, constitutes an especiall y satisfactory means for rigidly attaching the base plate to the frame. A window shade bracket comprising a j base plate, a bracket arm slidably mounted on said base plate, a resilient fastening clip slidably mounted on said bracket arm and engaging the base plate to maintain said bracket arm in adjusted position on said base plate, and means for retaining said resilient clip in locking position on said brack et arm.

A window'shadebracket comprising a base plate having upwardly and downward ly extending toothed flanges, a bracket arm slidably mounted on said base plate, and a one-piece resilient fastening clip slidably mounted on said bracket arm and having spaced side walls adapted to engage the teeth and lower portions, and a detachable fastening clip slidably mounted on said bracket arm having spaced side walls adapted to and having elongated notches near its'upper engage the teeth on the upper and lower toothed flanges on opposite sides of the bracket arm, the top andbottom walls of said fastening clip resting within the said elongated notches in the bracket arm when the clip is in looking position.-
