In accordance with the general features of the invention, there is provided an armature having a plurality of rod like members parallel to its axis of rotation from which the armature is suspended by means of a plurality of resilient members attached to a support.
In one'embodiment of the invention the armature is provided with an axial member, from each end of which projects four short rods or studs parallel to the axis of rotatlon and symmetrically disposed with respect thereto and supported by means of thin strips of metal passing around each stud, both ends of each strip being attached to a support whereby the forces restoring the armature are produced by stre s in these strips.

If preferred these four resilient members may be made by folding one sheet of material back and forth upon itself. Each of the rods 5 project throughthe cylinder 9 and lie snugly in the angle of one of the resilient members 16, and may be soldered thereto if desired. The length ofthe web members 16 will depend upon the maximum displace ment of the armature, the greater-the displacement the longer the members 16 should be. It will be seen from the construction herein described that all relatively moving contact surfaces which tendto produce rattle as in pivoted joints are dispensed with and the restoring force is provided mainly -by the tension introduced in the web-like members.

6. In an electromagnetic device, an oscillatory member, a hollow cylindrical support therefor having its axis in alignment with the axis of oscillation of said member, a
plurality of angular resilient members within and secured to said support, said resilient members having angular portions converging toward the center of said support and a plurality of rods lying in the angular portions of said resilient members and attached to said oscillatory member.
