UNITED STATES P A' 1EN OFFICE.
ROSCOE R. STITT, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
ICE-CREAM CABINET.
Application. filed April 9,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Roscoe R. S'rrr'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit,in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ice-Cream Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to ice cream cabinets, the object of which is to provide a cabinet in which a reserve supply of ice cream containers may be kept therein.
Another object is to so construct the cablnet that the reserve containers may be readily slipped in place of the exhausted container when desired. The construction is such that the ice cream in the reserve con-- tainers is kept in a 'frozen condition and there is no possible chance for a great amount of heat coming in contact therewith to overcome the cooling medium, which keeps the ice cream in such frozen condition.
Another object is to provide the cabinet with an opening through which access may be had to one of the containers for the purpose of serving the contents of the container to the public. It is possible with this constructi'on to withdraw the empty container and to push up the reserve container in its place with a minimum amount of effort.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of an ice cream cabinet constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view of the same taken on the line 2--2 of Fig. 1.
My cabinet consists of an outer shell a and aplurality of inner shells or containers 1). The cooling medium 0 is shown in the drawings as ice, which surrounds the inner containers and maintains the same at the desired temperature. However, any cooling medium may be inserted in the cabinet. the particular kind of cooling medium having no bearing on the invention herein described.
The cabinet is provided with a lid d, that may be lifted off for the purpose of packing ice about the inner containers Z). However, it cooling coils are used for cooling in the interior of the cabinet, it is not necessary to provide a cover for the cabinet, although the cover may be desirable so that access may be had to the interior of the cabinet for the 1924. Serial No. 705,157.
purpose of repairing or replacing any of the cooling coils. The top of the cabinet is provided with a plurality of openings: designated e and suitable covers f close these openings when, the cabinet is not in use. The inner containers Z) are somewhat elongated (see Fig. 1) so that thesame may hold a plurality of cans one of which is dis posed immediately beneath the opening (2 in the cabinet top. g
When it is desired to serve the public from the contents of the can, the cover f is removed and access may be had to the first can 9. When the can g is empty the can may be lifted out of the cabinet and the reserve can g shoved up in place and the dispenser may continue to serve without disturbing the cooling medium contained within the cabinet. It will be noticed in Fig. 2 that the inner shells or containers Z) are provided with an opening it at one end, which registers with the opening 6 in the cabinet top, the remaining portion of the containers being closed at the top to prevent the entrance of heat into the interior 7 thereof.
These inner containers are suitably spaced from the outer shell so that the space between the outer shell and the inner contain ers may be packed with ice or suitable cooling coils may be placed therein to cool the contents of the cans.
What I claim is:
In an ice cream cabinet for storing relatively large containers, the combination oi an outer shell provided with an openingin the top having a diameter slightly greater than thediameter of the container to permit the sameto just pass therethrough, an elongated inner shell provided with an opening at one end registering with the openingin the outer shell, the said inner shell arranged to hold several containers in a .row, one of. which may rest beneath the said opening to permit one to have access therewith but which prevents tampering with the remaining containers until the container at rest beneath the opening is removed from the cabinet, and means for providing a cooling medium for cooling the contents of the in ner shell.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my.
signature.
