To ail whom it may concem:
Be it known that I, Qfizam citizen of the United States, icsifiing at time Etete new Chicago, inthe county of Qooi: e.-
franged to define e qneriieteml Winding space in which the winciing and itscgiooi are disposed." The cpooi for the "indi nges preferably molded in one piece from. beizciite or other suitable mokiing material. The spool preferably comprises e portion and two flanges, one at each end of the iomiy portion, said flanges heading each, two eheoei shoulders on by; ositc siciee of the cocci 'iiiae shouiciers. 0. each cit are symmetri cell; rotated endinwer iy facing to define spaces in which said polioi'exten'sions are received.
The invention will be more fully e31 lnincd in connection with the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is an axial. sectional View of a telephone receiver con taining the preferred form of polarized 'megnet of my invention; Fig. 2 is a sectionai view on line 2-2 or Fig. i; Fig. 3'
it view in side elevation of the structure 40 "illustrated in Fi s. 1, 2 and 3 but with the receive: casing removed; and Fig. 4': is a perspective View illustrating the spool and one polar extension in assembly and the other polar extension separated,
Like ports are indicated by similar characters of reference throughout the difi'ei'ent figures.
The permanent magnet 1 is pi'efcmbiv ring like in form.
Its pole; extensions 2 I are of ii form, each end. of the permanent magnet be ng provided with one of-thcse extensions which are symmetrically er- --i"-m 'ed with one ends of each facing and O n) Spaced apart from the ends of the other to define n space tor the magnet winding it agnet. The

The shouiciere oft cacii air are symmetricelly reiotedoncl inwai'c 1y facing to definespcces in which said polar extensions are received. The spool is formed with an opening 8 extending theretiirough and between the L shaped shoulders of each pair, the
polar extensions are formed with angular recesses 9 at each of its corners in which adjacent sides of the shoulders are received. The coil 3 is wound u n saici spool between its flanges. T c armature 4' is mounted upon a stirrup 10 and is pieced. within the spooi o ening and between said polar extensions. The iuociyportion 11 oi the traieiver casing isexterioriy tizieoded at site rim to receive the casing cap 12 that is screwed thereon lice :1 control sound conveying paseegc 13 here shown as being interioriy threaded for connection with a, sound omplifying horn. A ligifi cup 1% has its circular cot-setting rim 15 clamped between the threaded end; of the casing body and en cnnulcr ridge 15 formed upon the intefior of the cap 12. The tele hone receiver die phlegm other suitable resiiient sheet material, is interimsed and eiampeci between the ridge am the annular rim oi the cup, this rim constituting a seat for the diaphragm. As is set forth in cepenciing application, the
diaphragm is tensioned to resist deflection from its normal plane in either direction, a. central portion of the diaphragm and has flanges 19411161 20,
one upon each side ofthe diaphragm. The, flange 19 is secured in plene by stcking. Cushion Washers 21 end 22 are employed, one being clamped between each rivet flange zinii the adjacent face of the diaphragm. A link 23 is screwed, at one end, into soici FiVBiZ and is further Svflil'ii thereto by a drop of soldier 24lupon the outer ends of the link and rivet. This link is connected at its other end in one end of the armature composeci oi mice, bokeiite, or
