'Be it known thatgl, VRoiaiiii'r:'A.'iLiroHotrfa citizen Vofthe `UnitedStates, residingat Chester, in the eountvofY Delawarer andi' .State of Pennsylvania;,have invented new and usefulr Improvements ;in1:Window Washers, of which:thejffollowingis y`aV specifi nation.
Application ,iiieiafiipni Las, risas.l fis'eriai No; 709,862., i
:This invention relates'to a window-washer',l
and more particularlyto a window .washing device designed principally for use -inzw'a'shing @the dwindowsl of;v` street-cars, railway passengerlcarmgand tlieylike, and the brushv v is also "adaptable1 :fora-washing;any desired r surface, such as'tlieusuria'ee oi lthe cars,
buildingwndowsfor the-like. Y.
An object ,oftheglinvention is toprovide f a brush as specified,ofthe-,fountain brush type, Wliereinthe cleansing luid,-p'referably water, enters the brush under` pressure and rotates the brushhead carrying the bristles, so as to cause a rotary `'movement of -the bristles over the surface being washed, while at the same time, the water passes through l the brush upon the surface*.beingwwashed,1
thereby permitting a ythorough cleaning of the surface with minimum exertion; y
` Another objectof thefinvention is to pro-1 vide a brush, structure asjspecitied, a novel :torin'of rotor. including a plurality of'blades" againstwhich the water entering the brush engages forrotating the brush-head and the blades are urtlierlshaped'to'direct the water tothe outlet openings through thebrush 'for' application 'to the" surface being cleaned,
and also toprovide means for preventing" the bristles Vof the brush being too tightly pressed against the surface .being cleansed.y v Other objects of the invention willappear in the'iollowiiig detail description, @and in the accompanying. drawingswherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevation ofI the; iin- -proved brush.
Figure 2 isa vertical section througlithe brush.
of Figure 2. i
Figure 4 is a detail view oi' the inner sur-1 i VViaceof the b-rush-head.
Figure 5 is a detail perspective view of one of the blades ofthe propelling. rotor.V
Referring more vparticularly to the draw#vv ings, the improved washer orbrushcom prises a Abody shell lwhich has'a boss 2 formed centrally on its rear closed side, the
Figure 3' is :i cross seetionon the lin'eB-B' receives the internally lscrewthreaded niplengtli, fdepending upon-` thel'n'se lto Wliioh the VTliebody r shell 1 opensoutwardly at'one.

The stop 17 is adapted to prevent the brush-head troni being tightly pressed against the object being washed, and consequently, to protect the bristles and ensure a thorough Washing.
Vfhile in the foregoing description, the device has been mentioned as particularly adaptable for wasning windows, and vstreet and railway passenger coaches,'it is to be understood that it is applicable for washing any suitable surfaces, and it is to be understood that an ordinary nose ot' approved type connected with the water supply isconnected to the inlet 15, and the flexibility of the hose will permit the washer or brush to be readilynioved about over the surface it is cleaning. A
It is, to be understood, ot' course, that the invention may be constructed in Various other mannersl and the parts associated in different relations, and therefore, IV donot desire toy be limited in any manner, except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended.
What I claim is:
In a device as set 'a Abrush rotatably led thereby and 1ncluding a bristle carrying brush-head hav-v ing a plurality of spaced elongated openings therein, a rotor attached to the inner surface of said brush-head and positioned within said body casing, said body casing having a fluid inlet adapted to perniit fluid entering the casingl to engage against said rotor for rotating-theV rotor and brush, said rotor including buckets having llat portions secured to the inner surfaceof the bruslr head, por# tions extending perpendicularlyV :with reference to the fiat portions and arranged radially to the axisof rotation, and said perpendicular portions having their inner ends directed rearwardly to the direction of ro* tation and positioned inwardly of the `elon-l gated openings, whereby water engagingsaid rotor willl be deflected through said 'open ings..
In testimony whereof I affix signature. i
