IMPROVEMENT IN CUTTING-BLOCK HOLDERS FOR LEATHER-WORKERS- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 156,493, dated November 3, 1874; application filed September 5, 1874.

A is the bottom plate, and B the side plate, of the stand for holding the wooden blocks 0,

bottom and sides We make in one casting the whole length of the block, with the exception of the ends of the sides, which are shortened a little to make room for the end pieces D, which we make in separate castings, fitting them to rest on top of the bottom and to extend beyond the ends of the sides; also, with an extension, E, from the middle of the lower edge down through a notch in the end of the bottom, and we also make them a little higher than the sides, and over the sides we connect the two ends by rods F, and under the bottom we connect the extensions E by another rod, F, the rods being provided with screwnuts to clamp the ends firmly against the blocks. We make the legs in two sections, I J, and bolt them together side by side through slotted holes, so that the block can be readily shifted to adapt it to suit the workman.

Having thus described our invention, we claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The cutting-block holder, having adjustable ends D D provided with pendent extensions and connected by screw-rods at top and bottom for longitudinal adjustment, all substantially as and for'the purpose described.
