To all whom it may concern:

.Be it known that I, MARTIN L. Bren, a citizen of the United States. residing at Seattle, in the county of King and State of Washington. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cleaning Devices; and I do herebv declare the following to be a full, clear. and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an improved construction of acleaning device, and more particularly to a combined cleaning and wiping implement which will efliciently clean windows and like objects without scratching the same or injuring the surrounding border or molding.

An object of the invention is to provide a combined cleaner and wiping device for cleaning windows which will be provided with a removable and renewable chemical- .ized cleaning pad and a plurality of adjacent wiping strips of rubber, so that the windows to be cleaned may first be gone over with the dampened chemicalized pad and wiped dry with the rubber strips.

A further object of the invention isto provide a combined cleaning and wiping implement for windows which will be highly efficient in use and quite inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.

Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.

My improved device comprises an elongated body plate 1 which has its rear portion bent downwardly a slight distance at substantially right angles thereto, as at 2, and has its forward portion bent upwardly at a slight angle. r plurality of spaced tabs or tongues 8 are punched from the downwardly extending portion 2 of the body plate and extend inwardly at an angle toward the bottom surface of the said body plate.

The cleaning pad 4 is preferably made from felt or like material and is chemicalized or impregnated with a suitable cleansing fluid, so that when the same is moistened with water the action of the cleansing fluid will thoroughly and efficiently remove any particles of grease or dirt from a window pane. The pad 4 extends a short'distance beyond each end of the body plate 1 and is securely fastened to a rigid supporting plate 5 by means of the rivets 6. The rear edge of the plate 5 is bent upwardly so that it will be engaged and firmly supported between the bottom surface of the body plate 1 and the plurality of tonguesv 3, while the forward edge of the. plate 5 is bent downwardly and is adapted to be securely clamped by the bent edge 7 of the clamping strip 8. The clamping strip 8 extends in spaced relation to the upwardly extending forward. portion 9 of the body plate 1, between which a plurality of rubber wiping strips 10 are adapted to be clamped in fixed positionbv means of the several bolts 11 which extend between said strip 8 and the annular portion 9 of the body plate.

I i From the foregoing desm-intion it will be apparent that when it is desired to clean a window it is only necessary to dip the cleaning pad into the bucket of water and run the same over the surface of the window to be cleaned, after 'whlch the wlplng strips will be drawn across the surface of the window to dry and remove all particles therefrom. o
