Description

FUHRING NAIL Filed June 16. 1923 INVENTOR MIC/ 19ft 581N561? I V ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 20, 1925.
PATET MICHAEL EIBINGER, Of." OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
FURRING NAIL.
Application filed June 16. 1923.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Mioi-mnn Ramona, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Furring Nails, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved fur-ring nail.
The object of my invention is to provide a turring nail which is simple in construction, and inexpensive to manufacture.
Another object is to provide a shield which will close the hole made by the nail and thereby prevent moisture from entering the wall.
Furtl'ier objects and advantages will be more specifically pointed out in the tollow= inn; detailed description.
In the ann :zed drawing in which my invention is illustrated:
Figure l is a front view or" my nails in position on a wall.
Figure 2 is an enlarged front view of my iurring nail.
Figure 3 is a sectional. view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Figure 4 is a side view of my nail.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, my furring nail consists of a head 1, which may be of any desired angular shape, and is here shown as square. A notch 2 is cut in each side of the head 1, and a nail 3, the head of which is counter-sunk in the I cad 1, extends through said head.
A plate 4, which is preferably formed of sheet metal, is positioned at the rear of the head '1 and the nail 3 extends through it and Serial No. 845,933.
into the wall 5. thus holding the head and plate securely in position. This plate, being held securely against the wall will prevent any moisture from entering through the hole for. l by the nail 3. thus obviating one objectionable feature of most nails.
The wire mesh 6 is spread over the wall and is held in position by nails 7, which are positioned in the notches and are driven through the plate i into the wall 5, the ends being bent downwardly over a strand of the wire as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
The edges of the head 1 are bevelled inwardly as shown at 8 The cement wall coating will flow around the heads 1 and the edges 8 thereoi will form a further anchoring means in addition to the wire 6.
Having described my invention, I claim: 1. A turring nail comprising an angular shaped head, and a nail extending; through said head, whereby the head is secured to a wall, the sides of said head being bevelled rearwardly.
2. A turring nail comprising an angular shaped head, said head having notches in the sides thereof adapted to receive a nail, a plate back of said head and a nail adapted to extend through the head and the plate and into a wall.
3. A furrinp; nail comprising;- an angular shaped head, said head having notches in the sides thereof adapted to receive a naih and a nail extending thru said head whereby the head is secured to the wall, the sides of said head being bevelled inwardly.
In testimony whereof I ali'ix my signature.
MICHAEL EBINGER.
