The object of the invention is to provide a to which the llowers, ferns and the like can he conveniently secured in any desired position and which is crumble of headingotadjustment into any desired length,
or slope in acoordanc with the design.
A. cl? er ohyect is to provide a stay of eharacter which can he manufactured and sold at an extremely low rice and which will greatly facilitate the ormation of funeral designs, houquets and the like,-
W'ith these and other ohjects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will he more hilly hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims:
in the accompanying drawings- Figure l is a view in elevation illustrating my improved stay, showing the manner of securing flowers thereto;
Figure 2'is a. view in transverse section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1. s I l represents my improved stay which is cozrnposed of a-single piece of bendable wire and which is, throughout the greater portion its length,'bent backwardly and forwardly providing alarge number of return hends so that the body portion of the stay is of general sinuous form.
Une end of the wire, which constitutes the stay is'adapted to support the normal lower end, is hent forming an 7 eye 2, and the other end, upper end, is bent forming a handhole loop 3, with the extremity of the wire bent upon the main portion of the wire, as shown at l, to close the loop. r
The stems 5 of the flowers or plants '6 are located against, upon, or tween portions of the stay and are secured thereto by wires or cords '2 looped around the stems and portions of the sta or otherwise secured, so that they will e held in the position desired, To lengthen the sta it is simply necessary to pull the latter longitudinallyn 'lo shorten the stay, the same can he hontracted longitudinally, and it will, of course, he noted that the stay can be hent laterally in any direction in accordance with the hourpiet The small eye normally the 2 at the normalbottom of the bouquet an inverted position in a refrigerator or cooling space to preventwilting, and the larger loop at the normal u per end of the stay is for conveniently hand mg the bouquet orsupporting the same in use.
Various slight changes and alterations might he made in the general form of the part described without departing from my invehtion, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterationsv as fairly fall within the spirit and scopeof the appended claims.
